Winner, Winner - and some amazing featured layouts!

Hello everyone!  It's time to announce the winner of our July Sketch Challenge, and to feature some amazing layouts.  We love to show off how you use Blue Fern products.

We will begin with this month's winner, selected by a random draw.........and the winner is entry #7,  created by Alison Bevis of Australia.

Congratulations Alison!  As the winner, you will receive a package of Blue Fern Studios chipboard.  Please send me an e-mail, within the next 7 days, to {valerie(at)bluefernstudios(dot)com} to claim your prize.

Here is the lovely layout Alison created for our July Sketch Challenge using paper from the Sanctuary Collection.  She also used several chipboard pieces - Smile, as her title, Seaside Frame, Checker Bits, and Circle Links.

We are always pleased to feature a few layouts from those that were submitted for the challenge.  You all spend so much time creating layouts for us, and we want you to know how much we look forward to seeing you use our patterned paper, chipboard and stamps!  Of all the amazing projects, here is a selection of 5 layouts that we would like to feature this month.

The first feature this month was created by Taru Jehkonen of Finland.  Aren't theses colors beautiful?  We love how Taru began with a sheet of paper from the Ombré Dreams collection, and created this stunning background.  The frame is from the Splattered Circles set, and the title is one from the Laughter, Happy, Smile set of words.

Marie-Eve of Canada also used paper from Ombré Dreams for her sketch layout, which features some amazing touches of gold!  She used a circular frame on her layout (Graduated Circles), Shabby Brick Bits, and the title is from our French Words chipboard set.

We immediately fell in love with this one from Rae Moses of the US.  The Boston Lattice chipboard piece is the perfect back-drop for this sweet photo.  The paper is from the Dejá Vu collection.  We love the addition of the scalloped border.

The next feature this month also has a scalloped border and striking black accents.  This stunning layout was created by Connie Hall of Canada using paper from the Montage collection.  The Heaven Sent chipboard title, from the Spiritually Speaking set,  couldn't be more perfect with such a sweet photo.

And last, but not certainly not least, is this layout from Joanne of Canada, who has used another sheet from our Ombré Dreams collection.  The simplicity of this one is what caught our eye.  It really lets the photo shine!

That wraps up our July Sketch Challenge.  Thank you to ALL who participated.
We sure hope you will be back creating with us this month.  You can see the August sketch challenge by clicking on the link on our sidebar.  Have a great month!

Bente's July inspiration.

Hi, I hope all of you in the northern hemisphere are enjoying a lovely Summer,
and that the Winter is not too bad on the rest of you :-)

Today I have some layouts to share with you that are absolutely 'fresh from the press' so to speak.
I was in the UK last week celebrating my eldest daughters graduation from university and
when I got back I had to finish my projects rapidly!!
-But with such awesome products to play with it's not a problem:-)

My first page is based upon a pink paper from the Montage collection.
On top is a paper from the Deja Vu collection. As yo can see the collections mix very well.
-Especially when you add a litttle mixed media here and there. :-)
I 'framed' the whole page with the largest sized Graduated Squares, painted white then inked around.

The gorgeous piece of chipboardbelow the picture is one of the recent shapes and called
Rock Wall Bits. I painted it beige , stapmed on it and addedsome pink glitter. The part of the Grunge Frames chipboard piece above the photo was given the same treatment. I just love to add glitter to my pages at the moment :-)

The cute small dots scattered all over my page are the insides of then alpha stickers that I used.

I used the Montage collection for my second project. I love all the lovely yellow papers in that collection:-)

And here are some close ups of the details.

I used one of the Memory Frames as my title and hid it partially behind my photo.

The arrows are from the Directions set and simply painted black.

Making banner-pieces or mats behind the photos are such great ways to use up those left over pieces from your favourite patterned papers.

And finally here is my page for the current sketch challenge that you can find HERE.

The chipboards I used are:
Laughter, Happy, Smile and Floral Clock.

And a closer peek at some of the details:

That's all from me for today!!
Have a good week!

It's All About YOU!

Today we have a special feature for you......we are featuring layouts from those of you who love our products.  That's right, we see your beautiful creations on your blogs, in online galleries, on Facebook, and in our own Blue Fern Gallery.  We are in awe of the projects we see using our products!

First up is this artsy layout that we found on Lisa Novogrodski's blog using paper from the Blue Fern Ombre Dreams collection.  This paper is perfect with this awesome photo!

This ultra-sweet layout was created by Isabelle Gauthier using the Blue Fern chipboard title "The Best Day Ever".  What a wonderful design, and the details are perfect!  We found this layout on Isabelle's blog where she has LOTS of layouts using BFS chipboard!

Former design team member Tiffany Solorio shows how she used various round chipboard pieces to create this "happy" layout.  We love how she tied all the chipboard pieces together with the flowers.

This layout by Steph D was found in an online gallery.  Steph has used paper from our Sanctuary collection with this photo from the 1950's.  Such a lovely way to feature this sweet photo.

Ginny Hickmott created this very dramatic layout with our Love Story collection.  Love how her paper layering stands out against the black/white background!

New design team member Marilyn Rivera hasn't had a chance to post on our blog yet, so we thought we would feature one of her layouts using Blue Fern products, before she became a member of our team.  Marilyn has used paper from the Sanctuary collection for this stunning layout.  You're going to love seeing her projects (and video tutorial) later this month!

Maiko Kosugi has taken this paper from the Montage collection, and created this adorable layout.  She has also used one of our chipboard dangles.  So much to love about this one!

Well, that wraps up our post for today.  Thank you to these talented ladies for using Blue Fern products in such creative ways.  You make us look good!

Angelica's June Projects

Hello everyone! Angelica here today to share my June projects with you! Since being on the DT I've been using one paper collection each month. Well, time to mix it up. Today, my three layouts are from three different paper lines.

First up is my take on the June Sketch just flipping it. I used two papers Ombre Dreams Collection; Charlotte's Dream and Joyce's Dream.

I used the Beaded String Chippy to further embellish my title. I used the word "Smile" for the Laughter, Happy, Smile set.

I used the Circle Vine chipboard piece to hold my photos.

For this page I used Boudoir from the Blue Fern Garden collection as my background. I fussed cut the Wisdom paper from the Montage Collection and matted my photo.

I really don't do much to my chipboard pieces. Just some thick gesso and mists.  Here I used the Estate Railing piece.
One of my favorite chippies are the Roman Clock Sets. Here I used the Large Set..

Last but not least, I used the Love Story Collection. My daughter loves Alice in Wonderland so I made this for her. This line was perfect! I used the True Harmony, Twenty One, and Amazing Heart papers.
I used the Queen of Hearts piece for my title and Heart Crowns as embellishments.
The Card Suit Melody chippy is so unique! Love it!

Well, I hope that you've enjoyed my projects for June! I will be back in August for I'm breaking for July!

Playing with darks and lights - by Zanka.

Hello friends!
I must say, I prefer to use light background for my layout rather than the dark ones. But the pattern of Bountiful (Sanctuary) is so elegant, that I just HAD TO give it a go.
So here is my layout with the dark background.
'SMILE'

I have used quite a lot of light elements for more contrast, I've even drawn leaves and branches with the white ink pen.
BFS chipboards used: Laughter, Happy , Smile; Turkish bits, Meadow Angelica, Lace rounds.

'XOXO'
With my second layout shared today, I'm back into my comfort zone, meaning light backgrounds :)
I used the new Deja vu collection, patterned paper and stamps.

I have used paper Tresors for this project. I have cut the paper in one-third and then glued it together again, arranging the border pattern in the middle (I learned this trick from Elena, who showed it in her tutorial here)
I have used the chipboards mainly to add dimension and texture.
BFS chipboards used: XOXO, Vintage labels, Gatsby collage.
Stamps: Halftone, Vintage edges.

Thanks for visiting BFS blog, enjoy !

April Projects by Melinda Thompson

Hi everyone :)

I have two new projects to share with you today using lots of gorgeous Blue Fern Studios products.
For my 1st layout I have chosen to use some Ombre Dreams papers...so so gorgeous! I have used Charlotte's Dream as the background paper with the Calling Cards as my layers.

"Baby Blues"

I have used the Roman Clock Set - Small and teamed it up with the gorgeous Tattered Butterlies and the word Baby from the Baby Words Set.

I have used lots of mists and inks to blend and tone my chipboard peices in to the colours of my photo and papers.

Products Used:
Paper: Omber Dreams - Charlotte's Dreams & Calling Cards
Chipboard: Roman Clock Set - Small, Tattered Butterflies, Baby

My 2nd project I decided to start with a plain white sheet of cardstock as I wanted to use the Number Grid - Large to be the focus of my layout.

"Smile"

Paper layers behind the photo are from the Sanctuary Collection.  I love that saying that is found on one of the Calling Cards.

I love these peices of chipboard from the Picture Perfect Collection..they are perfect for a fun layout.  I have again used many mists and inks with water to push the colour around on the chipboard.

Products Used:
Paper: Sanctuary Collection
Chipboard: Number Grid - Large, Smile, Picture Perfect, Negatives from the Jumbo Rings Panel

Hope you enjoyed my projects...
See you next month and happy scrapping!
Melinda :)

Today It Is All About YOU!

Today we would like to show off some of the beautiful and creative ways all of you use Blue Fern Studios products.  You take our paper, chipboard, and stamps, and use them in ways we never imagined.  So sit back, and enjoy this inspiration from some very talented ladies!

Solange Marques of Brazil used the lovely Correspondence paper from the Sanctuary Collection as the background for her layout.  She chose a photo of herself taken on her birthday.  We won't tell you which one, but her layout might give it away.  What an awesome way to remember this special day, Solange!

We found this layout in the Blue Fern Gallery. It was uploaded by Catherine Giguere.  This paper is the very popular Meadows of Time from the Sanctuary collection.  The grunge she added in the background so perfectly brings attention to the darling photo.  Thanks for showing off our paper so well, Catherine!

Charlotte of the UK did a stunning job with several papers from the Sanctuary Collection, and added a Blue Fern title, as well.  This is vintage at its very best, Connie, and a true showpiece.

We love the artsy background Joyce Lawrence created on this layout.  She began with a sketch as inspiration and this Blue Fern circle chipboard piece fit right in.  We love the way Joyce uses our chipboard!

Last, but not least, Jackie Clark took a section of our Chunky Heart Panel, which is almost a 12-inch square piece of chipboard, and turned it into a background for this sweet and grungy card.  Don't be intimidated by larger chipboard designs -- they can easily be cut apart and used for numerous projects. She got lots of texture by running it through an embossing folder and distressing it with ink.  What a great look, Jackie!

Thanks for stopping by today.  Be sure to leave these ladies some wonderful comments!
