Merry Christmas by Pascale B.

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Blue Fern Studios with my three last projects. I chose to work the two layouts with photos that I've taken in the beautiful castle of Chenonceau. The castle is well known for his beautiful floral compositions that ornated every room. Every year in December, the castle celebrated Christmas with special decorations. The first one is a white and gold composition ...

As usual, I started to prime the background paper with clear gesso. The I added a design with modeling paste and a stencil. Before the paste was dry I sprinkled the design with Pearl embossing powder that I heat set.

I painted the Framington Medley with green-gold opal magic paint and the straws with a gold acrylic paint.

I die-cut some berry branches that I colored with different watercolors. While the watercolors were still wet, I sprinkled Lime and Buttercup embossing powder that I heat set to give some texture.

Before gluing all the embellishments with a 3D matte gel, I added some colors to the background.

To finished the layout I added some mica flakes, glass glitter, micro beads, and glitters.

Papers - Memoires (Photographic Record)
Chipboard - Framington Medley
Flowers - Late Winter Lilies, Spring Lilies
Embossing Powder - Pearl, Lime, Buttercup

------------------------------------

For the second project, I chose a photo I've taken in the kitchen of the castle: the composition was all about treats...

Again I primed the background with clear gesso before adding a design with the Christmas Collage stamp that I embossed with the Ginger embossing powder.

I added a second design with 3D gel and a stencil. When dry, I sprinkled some gold mica powder that I sprayed with water to make the powder run around the design. Then I colored the background with brown watercolors and sprinkled some white and brown inks.

While the background was drying, I covered the Ruth's Doily with a white crackle paste. I painted the French Word with a metallic paint. I painted the Blossom Branches with an acrylic paint too, I added some acrylic white ink and glitter to the blossoms.

While the chipboards were drying, I die-cut some leaves that I colored with watercolors. And I sprayed all the flowers with a gold mica powder. Then I glued all the embellishments with a 3D gel.

I finished the layout with some mica flakes, glass glitter, and glitter.

------------------------------------

The last project is a set of Christmas cards. I used the Vintage Christmas 1 and 2 collections.

I made the two cards the same way. First I primed the background papers with clear gesso. Then I added a design with a stamp that I embossed with the 14 Karats powder. I embossed also the edge of the background as well as the cards.

I embossed the Leafy Accent Pages with the Sand and Sea powder. I colored lightly the background with acrylic paints.

I added some flowers and some die-cut leaves that I embossed with the Antique Gold powder.

For this one, I painted the Leafy Accent Pages with the same green watercolor I used on the background.

With a glue gun, I added a drop of glue on each Pretty Weeds's stem that I embossed with the Poinsettia powder.

Farewell 'Christmas' Projects
by Nicole Doiron

What a bittersweet post this is for me, as after a year of being on this wonderful team,
this is my last post as DT member on the Blue Fern Studios blog.
Through the year, I have been blessed with wonderful scrappy friends,
fabulous quality products from generous owner Leslie and inspiration galore.
I am forever grateful of having been given this amazing opportunity
and will forever hold a special place in my heart for Blue Fern Studios.

I've got 3 projects featuring the very festive
Vintage Christmas collections 1 & 2.

The Vintage Christmas collections not only offer beautiful Christmas patterns,
but also include lots of papers that are perfect for Winter-themed layouts like this plaid print.

To go along with it, I chose several Winter chipboard pieces including the Snow Medley board, covered in Snow embossing powder with a touch of glitter dust, and these adorable mittens from the Cozy Christmas set on which I used It's a Girl and Blue Sky.

You see below the Dangled Flake piece which I cut in half as I wanted to save some of it
for another project. I added several flowers from the new kits, Christmas Blooms
and Soft Blossoms.  I sprinkled lots of silver microbeads throughout my page.

I chose A Wonderful Life, covered in Snow, as the title to which I added the word Cozy
which I 'stole' from the Cozy Christmas piece, as that is exactly the word that comes to mind
when I look at this picture of Yves and I cozying up to each other
for a selfie during a Winter stroll.

Blue Fern Studios products used:

Patterned Papers: Vintage Christmas 1 (Greeting Cards);
Vintage Christmas 2 (Let It Snow, 'Twas the Night, Holiday Cards)
Chipboard: A Wonderful Life, Snow Medley, Cozy Christmas, Dangled Flake
Flowers: Christmas Blooms, Soft Blossoms
Imagine Ink: Embossing Powders (Snow, Blue Sky, It's a Girl)

My next project is another layout, this time documenting a very special Christmas wish.

Before I met Yves, I had spent many a Holiday season surrounded by family and friends, but still somewhat lonely, wishing for true love, the kind of love that lasts a lifetime. My wish came true in 2006 and, since then, I get to spend every Christmas with my life partner, my soulmate, my best friend.  This picture was taken on Christmas eve a couple years ago. That is why I chose the title 'Twas the Night Before Christmas as the title, on which I used the new Santa's Suit embossing powder.  It's red and glittery and perfect for any Christmas project!

On my background, I used the Weathered Doilies stamp with the Ebony powder.
I added Holly Springs, covered with Sage and Santa's Suit, to my flower cluster and
bits of Mixed Chains, covered in 14Karat, along the top and bottom of my picture.

Here you see a piece of the Holiday Vine, all decorated in gold.

And a final close-up of my Christmas wish come true!

I realize this has turned out to be quite a long post, but bare with me please... it is my last! :)

And speaking of last, this is my last DT project... a trio of Christmas cards.

What is great about the Vintage Christmas Greeting Cards and Holiday Cards papers
is that they are full of beautiful journaling cards and images, perfect for card making.

On this card, I used the Holiday vine and some Holly Sprigs chippies.

I also took a cream flower from the Soft Blossoms and turned it red using
the Santa's Suit embossing powder.

On Card 2, you can see the leftover Dangled Flake from my Winter page above.

These little leaves are the negative pieces from the Holly Sprigs.

I love all the beautiful vintage imagery from these papers.

Card 3 is set up on a misted and stenciled background.

You can see here that I added red gems on the Holly Sprigs.  The leaves were treated with Clover embossing powder and then dabbed with white paint for my signature white washing.

I cut a side of the Stars & Berries Frame, covered it in Snow embossing powder and
added a touch of the new Vintage Gold glitter on the stars.

Vintage Christmas by Pascale

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Blue Fern Studio with three new projects featuring the Vintage Christmas 1 & 2 collections. The first project is a mini album entirely realized with the first Vintage Christmas collection. The size of the mini album is 13 x18 cm (5" 1/4 x 7"1/4).

I embossed the pages with different stamps as well as the edges.

I die-cut a few doilies to add inside. I added the page titles too.

I added the first design to the cover with the Brocade Texture stamp and the Ginger powder. Then I continue with the Christmas Collage stamp set and a permanent ink.

I embossed the Dangled Flake with two layers of Black Sand embossing powder and the Winter Flakes with two layers of Ginger While the embossing powder was still hot, I stamped the Winter Flakes to add some texture.

Blue Fern Studios products:

Papers - Vintage Christmas (Wonderland, Greeting Cards, Magical, Deck the Halls,
Auld Lang Syne, Noel)
Chipboards - Dangled Flake, Winter Flakes
Stamps - Christmas Collage, Brocade Texture, Postal Texture, Texture Circle, Grungy Grid
Embossing Powder - Antique Gold, Ginger, Black Sand, Silver Bells

------------------------------------

My second project is a layout featuring the new Vintage Christmas collection. I chose an old photo of my daughter.

I cut a large strip in the Twas the Night paper and glued it on the Joly paper. Then I primed the background with clear gesso.

I added a thin layer of white gesso where I want to put my embellishments and photo. When dry, I added a design with 3D Gloss Gel and a stencil. While the gel was still wet I sprinkled some Pyrite glitter.

While the background was drying, I painted the chipboard with a metallic paint and the Soft Blossoms in red.

I splattered some red and copper paint; Then I added a new design to the background with the Christmas Collage stamp embossed with the Ginger powder. I colored the area with different colors of watercolor.

I glued all the embellishments with a 3D gel (flowers, chipboard, lace...), and to finish, I added some star brads embossed with the Ginger powder.

------------------------------------

Here is my third November's project: a set of card.

I chose the Jolly paper as the base of both cards. I stamped them with one of the stamps from the Christmas Collage set. Then I embossed the image with a sticky powder in order to add Carribean glitters.

Then I embossed also the edges of both cards with the 14 Karats powder to add some extra shine.

I embossed some Winter Flakes with the Honey powder, other with the Ginger and the Antique Gold powders.

I embossed some die-cut leaves with the 14 Karats powder too. While the embossing powder was still hot I sprinkled them with  the Carribean glitter and heat set them.
