September inspiration by Karolina

Hi guys! Karolina here. Welcome on the Blue Fern Studios blog ;) Today it's time for my September inspiration. Can you believe it? Time is running out so quickly!

This time I would like to show you 3 projects - layout and two canvases.

DREAM BIG

I had so much fun when I was creating this little canvas! I really like the background and turquoise accent in my composition. I used some dark vintage papers to create my composition and the chipboard piece - a little Dream big. I covered the chipboards with ginger embossing powder as well as a leaves.

CAGES

This layout only looks very cheerful. It's full of colors and embellishments, but I created this page to express my feelings. Not exactly good feelings. But I really like when my life, my thought can be an inspiration for my projects. Even though it's clear only for me ;)

Here I also used papers from few different collections. I do love panels chipboard from BFS! You can use it in so many projects and in so many different ways. This time I decided to use two panels.

BEAUTiFUL

And the last but not least my third canvas with funny photos of one of my best friend Weronika. Weronika is 3 years younger then me and she will be always like my little sister, especially I've known her since she was 3! It's a lot of time!

Here I also used a part of chipboard panel but this time I didn't cover it.

Ok, so that's all! I hope your monday morning was a little bit more colorful ;) Have a good week and see you in October!

~ Hello, September with Sandi ~

Hello, hello!
Thanks so much for coming by the blog today.
Sandi here with you today sharing my September creations.
It is always so exciting to go in my scrap room and play with my Blue Fern Studios projects!
I love being a part of this team.

"Summer Vacation, Lucy Style"

First up: I haven't done a "Lucy" page in a while, so this old photo of Lucy fishing is perfect for using my Seaside Cottage papers. I've used both sides of the Splendor paper so that I could slit the grooves between the wood panels and distress them a bit. I've only used a minimal amount of mixed media so that the beautiful images would be dominant. Just a bit of colorizing with Cotton Candy Imagine Mist and stenciling.

To get a uniform look, all three pieces of chipboard were treated the same way. First they were primed with white gesso, then heat embossed with a combination of Ginger and Chili Powder Embossing Powder. The large lantern from the Seaside Lanterns set got a heavier dose of Chili Powder, It was simply tucked in amongst my flowers and other paper layers.  The Harvest Lilies are new to the store and they seemed to work perfectly for this layout!

I thought the chain and lantern would complete the corner of this page and indeed, they fit beautifully and balanced the design.

I love the chunky look of the Summer Vacation chipboard and tried to give it a bit more ombre' look with my two powders. I left sections of the chipboard less heated for an interesting texture.

A good close-up of the dimension you can achieve with your layers, chipboard and flowers. The photo was framed with Seaside Cottage Mermaid and Calling Cards.

"Fall Memories"

My granddaughter KK loves her horses! She recently sent a few photos that I'm sure she's hoping to see on some scrapbook pages! LOL I pulled out one of my favorite collections … Autumn Anthology because I knew it would work perfectly with her blue checked shirt and her horse's coat. Because I had a wide section of blue background using the Robin paper, I was able to do some simple stenciling without covering up any pretty images. The Mercantile paper is an absolute fave of mine and I've torn it into strips. It's a busy design but the colors and images are wonderful.

I have a lot of layers of chipboard going here and it's hard to photograph because they are semi-covered with the photo layer. But I used the Mini Ring Things as a bottom left layer and also around the edges of the page. These were inked and embossed with Ginger and given a smidgen bit of Burnt Copper Glitter for shine. The next layer, other than the paper was the Flourish Medley piece which was cut in half to lengthen it. It was embossed with Ebony Embossing Powder as well as Ginger, topped off with bits of the Burnt Copper Glitter. The Collage Frame was treated the same and is directly beneath my matted photo.

I wanted to share just a closer view of the frame and flourish pieces. They look divine in real life!

For flowers, I combined some of the Tranquil Blooms with our Seaside Lilies. A Calling Card serves as my title.

I'm hooked on these side views because depth, layers and texture are "my thing!"

"Remember Moments"

This "Mermaid" paper has become the signature paper from the Seaside Cottage collection and I love it! My original intent was to use it for an old photo of my dad but that will have to come another time …. once I get more of these papers. However, I was itching to scrap this brother and sister photo taken near a beach. Photo credit to the Souza's photographer, name unknown.

Since everyone has already used this paper, I decided to "go big or go home" and used the large title "Remember Moments." Otherwise, it's actually a quite simple page. Under my photo I've used the Crossing the Lines chipboard. Both of these large pieces were inked and treated with some old rusting powders.

Seaside Gala and Calling Cards papers were torn and tucked under my photo and on top of the chipboard. Cheesecloth was used as a base. I'm loving how versatile the Blue Fern Studios lilies are.

A close-up of the title and also a view of some of the random stamping.

The stenciling is light but yet ties the theme together. Now this layout is headed off to this sister who is missing her brother while he's away on the mission field.

Blue Fern Studios Products used:

Chipboard: Remember Moments, Crossing the Lines

That's all for now!
See you next month!

September Shares by Nicole Doiron

Hello everyone!

Nicole here today to share with you some Blue Fern Studios projects,
utilizing a variety of collections as well as chipboard, flowers and Imagine Ink mediums.

Let's start with this very romantic wedding page created on a background
of Love Story "Cotillion" and Timeless "Couture" papers.

I chose to use the title Romantic Moment on which I created an ombre effect using Garnet and Magenta embossing powders as well as a little white paint.  The title was added on layers of fussy cut flowers, pieces of Floral Lattice Bits and more paper flowers from the BFS collections.

I created a rustic look on the Everlasting Dangles by combing a mixture of Garnet embossing powder, black crackle paint, white acrylic paint and some distress stains.  The beautiful key, covered in 14Karat,
is from the Vintage Keys set.

Here's a closeup of all the beautiful BFS flowers I used.  What an elegant bouquet!

And this is the picture that inspired this whole page, of my friend Nathalie and her beau on their wedding day... surely a romantic moment to cherish forever!

Flowers: Seaside Lilies, Attic Charm Daisies, Tranquil Blooms, Attic Charm Glitter Roses
Imagine Ink: Embossing Powders (Garnet, 14Karat, Magenta)

My second project is as sweet and shabby chic as the first one was romantic and elegant.

I wanted to create a very girly page with bright colors over a pale classy background.
I created my background by ripping pieces of the Tranquility "Jubilation" paper and apposed them on top of the pink Courtship Lane "Town Gossip".  I cut out squares out of the wood grain pattern from the "Jubilation" papers and made a vertical collage combined with white corrugated cardboard and lots of flowers.

You can see here a Brigitte Butterfly that I cut in 2.  It was covered with Bonny Blue embossing powder
with a dash of Blue Diamond glitter.

The other half of the butterfly is right here amidst flowers, including a very lovely pink Attic Charm daisy.  You can see here that I did some stamping throughout my page.

The focal point of my page is this gorgeous piece from the Jubilation Corners set.
It was covered in Bonny Blue, sprinkled with Blue Diamond glitter and dabbed with white paint.

On my last close-up shot, you can see the star of this layout, my pretty and adorable niece Ella, as well as the title chosen which I created by combining the word Adorable from the French Words set and a piece left over from another title I had cut out in the past. I treated it with a mix of Mushroom, Ginger and Nutmeg powders.  You can also see here a sneak of the Bits of Honey covered in Fuschia.

My 3rd layout was inspired by the Blue Fern Studios September mood board challenge.

As already described during the challenge reveal...
You may find it strange that despite the mood board giving off a very Summery feel, I was inspired to create a layout all about Autumn.  At the same time, I was incline to show how versatile this mood board is.

I looked through my stash of Blue Fern Studios papers and I found that some of the Autumn Anthology collection went perfectly with the colour palette. I was mainly inspired by the peachy hues which reminded me of Fall leaves and I had just the right picture for it!

I wanted to make my page extra romantic and elegant just as the mood board images, and I find that the Gazebo chipboard piece gives it a warm inviting atmosphere.  I covered it with a mixture of Chili Powder and Tangerine embossing powder after adding a thick layer of gesso and paste.

I made sure to add lots of flowers including a peach Attic Charm Daisy which if my favorite of the constantly growing collection of BFS flowers.

And to soften my whole page to coordinate with the softness of the board, I dabbed some white paint on my papers, flowers, chipboard and embellishments to give it a whitewash effect... inspired by the sea!

Cathi's September Projects

Hello again friends!! I am back this month with some more projects and this time I'd love to start off with a layout to get me in the mood for autumn! The days are getting shorter and the air is getting crisper so I decided that the gorgeous Autumn Anthology papers would be perfect for my first layout this month. I chose the gorgeous Newsworthy sheet from the collection.

Here you can see where I took some cutouts from the Calling Cards paper from Autumn Anthology and tucked them under my 13 year old daughter's photo. She loves her makeup and knows her way around photo filters so she is looking about 20 here...I don't want her growing up so fast! You can see the background stamping here using the Forever set and the butterfly from the Bourbon Street set.  I did some misting and masking with moulding paste.

I just love the Royal Monarchs chipboard set and have added a butterfly here to match in with the butterflies in her hair in the photo!! I embossed the chipboard using the Imagine Ink Buttercup and Auburn Embossing Powder colors.

I just love the flowers from Blue Fern Studios! Don't you just love the deep red color of those lilies from the Seaside Lilies collection, just beautiful. I also added the large yellow Attic Charm Glitter Rose and some dark brown Courtship Blooms. I tucked in some pieces from the Leafy Bough chipboard and I colored them with Auburn Imagine Ink Embossing Powder.

To finish off this layout I added my title in the bottom corner using the Be Your Best Selfie chipboard from the Selfie Squares set. Again, I added Imagine Ink Embossing Powder in Buttercup and Auburn.

My next layout features my camera shy youngest when she was young and less camera shy! My little beach babe!! For the base of this layout I chose the beautiful Regalia paper from the Seaside Cottage collection and cut out some fun words from the Calling Cards collection.

Here you can see my background stamping with some of my favorites stamps: Making Plans, Forever, and Essential Textures. I used the Forever stamp in Picked Raspberry Distress Ink and the others were Walnut Stain Distress Ink. Here you can see the flower cluster. I chose flowers to tone in with my daughter's bright swim suit! She has a bright pink Courtship Rose in her hair and the same color Attic Charm Daisy, the pink lily is from the Dark Tropic Lily set.

For the Beach Babe chipboard I used Seven Seas and 14 Karat Imagine Ink Embossing Powders... If you look closely around my daughter you can see where I used the Oatmeal Imagine Ink Embossing Powder, it has a great grainy looking texture perfect to imitate a sand texture!

I added a few shells to my layout which I love!! Underneath my little beach girl I added the Seaside Flourish chipboard, again using the Seven Seas and 14 Karat Imagine Ink Embossing Powders I tucked a light and dark pink set of Courtship Roses.to add to my embellishment cluster.

My final project is a set of four cards. I love the blues and browns of this collection and I think the images are gorgeous, so I chose four images from the Calling Cards paper and made those the focus of my cards. For my first two cards I used the Splendor page. I added stitching around the edges and popped the image up foam tape. I then added some Seaside Lilies and my favorite shells from my stash. I also tucked in a light brown Courtship Bloom.  For some background interest and texture I added Mesh Bits and for the card on the left I embossed with Sea Mist Imagine Ink Embossing Powder and for the right card Azure Imagine Ink Embossing Powder. I have added the beautiful Seasonal Wildflowers pieces embossed with Melon Imagine Ink Embossing Powder to the flower clusters for a bit of detail. I finished off the cards by tucking in some cheesecloth for a netting kind of texture to the cards.

For my final two cards I used a base of the Voyage paper, I just love the colors and images in the paper. I then added the adorable vintage sailor suit boy images for these cards.  Again I tucked in some Mesh Bits for texture. These were embossed using Cerulean Imagine Ink Embossing Powder. For my clusters I used the beautiful blue Seaside Roses as well as the dark brown Courtship Blooms. I added in some seashells from my stash and then the coral pieces from the Seaside Treasures which I embossed in Poinsettia Imagine Ink Embossing Powder. I finished off these cards with some stitching around the edges.
