Happiness and Peace

Welcome to Blue Fern Studios today.  Jennifer Snyder here to show you what I created with the ever versatile Blue Fern chipboard pieces I selected.

This first layout is called Happiness Is...

It is a photo I took of my father last summer.  He has his fishing vest on and his fishing hat.  He was walking back from the pond behind his house where he had just taught my son to fish. It was the sweetest moment.

My dad loves to fish.  Even with his cane in his hand, he can still find a way to cast a line.  He was so happy the day my son called him up and asked if he could learn from the best.

Natural Sprigs Set - 074639

Good Vibes 074899

Seasonal Wildflowers 074394

In the image above, I used the Natural Sprigs Set and painted them with some crackle paint, added ink to the edges and then micro beads and mossy textures.  I wanted to keep them looking like weeds at the pond.

In the image below, the Blue Fern Happiness piece from the Good Vibes set was painted with a clear crackle paint and sprinkled with micro beads, then inked with dark chestnut ink.  I also dabbed with some cream colored acrylic paint.

This image shows the Seasonal Wildflowers chipboard piece - one of my favorite pieces. I painted it with gesso,  and painted the stems with green ink.  I topped with gold seed beads - made it look kind of weed-like.

Here is a tag I made called Peace. Being new to the world of tag making, I am having fun with them.  My husband is taking all my tags and attaching them to wine bottle for gifts.

Here are the chipboard pieces I used on this:

Nifty Tags & Tickets - 074738

Good Vibes 074899
Fancy Birdcage 074677

The Peace chippie from the Good Vibes set was painted with teal paint and accented with gold paint.
I paired the star from the Nifty Tags & Tickets set with the stand from the birdcages. The star is coated with gold paint and topped with an ornate metal star from my stash - an old piece of jewelry.

Thanks so very much for stopping by.  Check back often as Blue Fern is adding new designs all the time.

What a gorgeous mix of color and stamping on our "Blooming Foliage" piece- beautiful!

The slight curve in the "Happiness" title from the "Good Vibes" pack worked perfectly with Barbara's circular design :).

The distressed finish of Tracey's title from the "Valentine's Word Set" perfectly compliments the feel of her layout. Love it!

2 layouts and 1 tag by Vibeke Harila

Hi:)

A new month - and its my turn to show
you some of my work.
I have worked hard to make something new that maybe can
inspire you to create with your chipboard.

I will show you 2 layouts and 1 tag today.
Enjoy :)

"Memento vivere"

My first layout is with a pic of my youngest daughter and her friend
playing in our garden.
"Memento viviere" is the perfect title
- it means "Remember to live"

I have used the sketch here in the Blue Fern blog,
you can read more about it here.

This is the beautiful Brigitte Buttefly.
It is so pretty. I have painted it with a touch of white paint.

This is one of my favorite chipboard - Lattice Fence.
So perfect for my layout. Beautiful. Just a bit white paint on it.

One of the Doodle Corners.
I have a bit CracklePaint and brown mist on it.
Perfect:)

Under my pic and the flowers I have put the lovely Lattice Gate.

"Congratulations"

A birthday tag for a friend of mine.
So easy to make when you have so lovely chipboard.

The chipboard is Spring Iris.
Some ink - and clear embossing. Easy and pretty.

Coordinating Your Chipboard w/Any Type of Project!

Good morning Blue Fern Studios friends! Erin Blegen here with you today :). I'm going to be sharing 3 different types of projects (layout, card, and tag) and how you can make your chipboard coordinate- no matter your style or project {type} preference.

I remember when I was new to raw chipboard, I didn't know quite how I would make those pieces become a part of my project without standing out- in a bad way. So if you feel like that yourself- don't worry! If you haven't had much experience with working with chipboard, that is a completely normal reservation! But today I would like to encourage those with this fear to try out some of these simple techniques- and get yourself on your way to becoming a chipboard altering fool ;)!

"Walk"
I like that I almost have to guess myself which of the embellishments here are chipboard- because they blend so nicely with the rest of the layout. And all it takes is a little bit of recognition of the papers and other products with which you are working, and applying those features to your chipboard.

Take for example this Ironwork Accents piece. I simply used a rubber stamp from my personal collection that complimented my papers and used it to stamp my primed (w/gesso) chipboard. I then used it as a meeting place for the seam binding that stretches across the page, topping off its center with a bow. Super easy- ANYONE (with some stamps and ink, that is) can do this!

The exact same idea was repeated here. I cut this piece off of the bottom of the Garden Gate (You will find that I love to piece apart- and stretch the use of- my chipboard!)

Here I've taken a panel from the Lattice Fence and mimicked the look of the metal embellishment beside it. I've done this by using a stone-colored distress ink dabbed very lightly over top.

"This Wonderful Life" {Card}
Here again I've made this gorgeous piece from the Brigitte Butterfly Set become a part of my project.

I actually used a butterfly stamp with some brown distress ink to create the pattern on this piece. I felt this particular design was complimentary to my papers. After drying, I used a sandy colored chalk ink very lightly over top to tone down the white of the gesso (used to prime the piece before stamping).

"You Make Life Beautiful" {Tag}
Finally, I have a tag to share. I chose to use one of the Petite Boutique Frames, which I simply primed with gesso before using blue embossing powder and setting it with a heat gun. I love the beautiful, glossy finish- and that this design was the perfect platform for the resin piece I was to layer next.

Next came one of the Vintage Locks, which I decorated with some blue microbeads. Again, an altering idea that anyone can do!

Take care!
