January Projects by Babi

Hi Everyone!

I'm so excited to share with you my first projects for Blue Fern Studios.
It's such an honor to be a part of this talented team.

First, let me introduce myself.

My name is Barbara, but everyone calls me Babi. I am a Brazilian currently living in New Jersey, USA.  In my country I used to be a Librarian,  but now I spend most of my time taking care of my daughter, blogging, teaching and running a small scrapbook business.

I love creating girly projects and I can't resist beautiful flowers. I started this scrapbook journey as a cardmaker but know I'm all over the place, always learning and trying new things.

You can find me on:

-------------------

In my first layout I used the back of the XOXO paper from the Heartland collection .
I started by applying some clear gesso all over the page. I like to protect and seal the paper before adding some color and texture.
Next, I used a stencil and black ink to create the background.

I applied some texture paste on a "handwritten" stencil and covered the paste with Pearl Embossing Powder and heated it after it dried. You can't tell so much just by looking at the picture, but it gives a very delicate texture.

I also covered the Floral Lattice Bits chipboard with Antique Gold Embossing Powder.

For the layers I used the following papers:  Bicycle for TwoSweet of You and a piece of book paper.

I fussy cut some beautiful flowers using Bicycle for Two paper  and  arranged with some paper flowers - Spring Lilies to create a full bouquet.

To finish the background I added a love title, a little bit of spray ink, sprinkle white and black gesso for more contrast.

Supplies using Blue Fern Studios:

Papers: HeartlandCollection -(XoxoBicycle for Two and  Sweet of You)
Chipboard: Floral Lattice Bits
Embossing Powder: Pearl and Atique Gold
Flowers: Spring Lilies

--------------

The Heartland collection was also used in my second layout. I love how versatile this collection is. You can go from bold to colorful very easily and keep a natural style.

I used two Kiss Kiss sheets, one of them slightly smaller to add some dimension.

For the background I applied some texture paste using a heart stencil. Then on top of that I added It's a Girl and Pearl embossing Powder.

For the layers I used Love Blooms and Bicycle for Two papers.

Again, I did some fussy cutting using on the Sweet On You paper.  Sorry, I can't resist these beautiful flowers. LOL.

I used the chipboards Heartland XOXO that I embossed with Snow Embossing Powder. It gives a nice white look that contrast with the colorful papers.

And here you can see more details of the flower arrangement.

Supplies using Blue Fern Studios:

Papers: Heartland Collection  (Kiss KissBicycle for Two, Love Blooms and Sweet On You).
Chipboard: Xoxo
Embossing Powder: Pearl,  It's a Girl and Snow

---------------

My last layout is all about winter.
In keeping with the Christmas spirit, I decided to use these beautiful papers from Vintage Christmas collection for a Winter layout.

I used the Auld Lang Syne paper for the base and added some strips of the Wonderland paper on the sides.

For the Layers I went with Auld Lang  (Vintage Christmas 1) and Twas the Night (Vintage Christmas 2).
Some texture with gesso, stencil, ink and stamps.

Then cut a couple of frames with white cardstock and applied some 3D gel followed by Vintage Gold and Pyrite Glitter. It's sparkly and gives some contrast to the page.

Moving on I embossed the chipboards Shabby Flakes with Snow Embossing Powder and Winter Titles with Antique Gold.

Supplies using Blue Fern Studios:

Papers: Vintage Christmas ( Auld Lang Syne and  Wonderland)
Vintage Chtismtas 2  (Twas the Night)
Chipboard: Shabby Flakes and Winter Title
Embossing Powder: Antique Gold, Snow
Glitter: Vintage Gold and Pyrite.

**Hope you enjoy it**
Thank you so much for stopping by today!

January Social Media and YOU, edition #1

Hello, hello!

We hope your New Year is off to a great start!
Our Creative Team works hard to provide you with lots of inspiration, so dust off that scrapping table and start creating! Then, be sure to post your creations on Social Media (Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, etc) and tag Blue Fern Studios for a chance at being featured right here! We're even looking for you on YouTube!

This year our Social Media Director, Sandi Clarkson, will be posting several times a month instead of only on the 17th of the month. That means MORE opportunities for YOU to be featured!! And who doesn't want to be FEATURED on the Blue Fern Studios Blog, right?!!

First up this week, we found this amazing little exploding box creation by Maiko Mawa on Instagram at @maikomiwashinyscrap.  We're a fan of exploding boxes anyway, so this one really caught our eye! On her BLOG you can find a wonderful video of the entire project!
Maiko's version features our Vintage Christmas papers.

Understanding that Christmas is over for now, we just had to feature this gorgeous layout done by former Creative Team member Lisa Griffith using our Vintage Christmas 1 and 2 paper collections. Lisa has included a chipboard ornament and lots of Blue Fern Studios Christmas Blooms. You can see more of Lisa's work at @lisagriff9. Or on her BLOG

Isn't this next layout just the most romantic creation? Noriko Fujioka created this beauty with Blue Fern's Blush Collection and our fabulous Jeweled Frame chipboard. Her dainty fussy cutting and use of pearls set a very feminine stage. Please visit Noriko at @noriko_f55.

That wraps up today's post.
The Social Media Features this year will focus on a few artists at a time in order to give each designer plenty of individual attention.

Thanks for visiting the Blog today and remember to TAG us on your work!

January projects by Tartine Peluche

Hi everyone!
I'm so excited to share with you my first projects for Blue Fern Studios;
such an honor and a pleasure to be a part of this fabulous team.
So let me introduce myself.
My name is Melanie, Tartine Peluche on social media. I'm 34 years old and I live Quebec in Canada.
I do principally layouts, sometime cards and canvas. I've been scrapbooking for several years, starting with cards. Since a year I've changed for layouts and I really love that. My style is mostly shabby but I like touch everything and discover new techniques.
What is sure, my style is very detailed and full of flowers.

This is me

My works are always evolving and that's one of things why I love this art.
You can find me on:

I hope to inspire you all year long.

===============

My First layout: I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
I used the back of " Wonderland " paper from the Vintage Christmas collection for the background.
I simply put some texture paste and added a little brown ink and I finished with crackles textures stamps that I emboss with snow embossing powder
and grungy grid stamp emboss with ginger embossing powder.

The main chipboard of this layout is Snowflake Frame-Square. I started by embossing it in snow embossing powder. Then I used crackles textures stamp with brown ink pad and finish with grungy grid stamp emboss with ginger embossing powder.
To add contrast to the main chipboard I used Shabby Flakes. I made a mix of snow embossing powder and vintage gold glitter that I used to emboss the flakes.
Under the flakes I used two pieces of kit Mini Flourishes. I simply embossed with Ginger Embossing powder to bring out the flakes.

I used two deer from the kit Winter Deer also embossed in Ginger Embossing Powder.
I added dimensional paint for simulate snow.

You can better see the effect of mixing glitter and embossing powder on snowflakes here and dimension of white paint on deer.
You can see also the shinning of background create with stamps and embossing powder.

I kept the most beautiful for the end. These flowers are so beautiful. They are perfect!
I add a few micro beads on the pistils.

And a small snowflake to decorate the metallic golden deer.
Love this.

My second project is " Follow your heart "
I use the " Love Song Serenade " paper from the Heartland collection as my background paper.
I added white gesso, a doily stencil and just a little bit of teal ink.

I covered the chipboard "Follow Your Heart " with black gesso and give some shinning with pigment ink silver. I added some small details with teal wire thread.
I cut the chipboard Rose Frame and after putting white gesso I added a small layer of metallic teal paint. Some flowers and beads added the final touch of the top part.

Here I used the same procedure on another piece of chipboard Rose Frame
and completed with flair. Still some beads and small
piece of cheesecloth and this part is finished.

This is my favorite part of my layout.
I covered with white gesso and emboss with Snow embossing powder
I decided to customize my chipboard Treasured Floral Frame with flowers and wire thread, exactly like the chipboard. I really love the result.
Under This chipboard I added other pieces of Rose Frame chipboard,
still altered with white gesso and metallic paint.

Then I used the white flowers Christmas Blossom and coated the center of Caribbean glitter.

Some beads ans stars sequins to add a littles details .

My last layout " These moment "
I used the back of  " Love Blooms " paper from the HEARTLAND collection. I love this blue!
I slightly bleached the paper with white gesso, I used crackle textures stamp with black ink pad then I applied with texture paste. To finish the background I added a little bit of spray ink with a brush.

I used the chipboards Heartland XOXO, the bird of chipboard Spirit of Heartland
and one heart of  Heart Set. I first applied white gesso and I painted all the chipboards
in the same way, with metallic
watercolor paint teal, white and blue.

You can see more the shinning of the paint on this picture on the chipboard with this picture.

I really love the lilies flowers of Blue Fern Studios. For this projet I chose to use the light blue of kit Spring Lilies. They are so beautiful and really perfect for my layout.

Vintage Christmas and Heartland Inspiration by Kris Berc

Hello, Blue Fern Studios fans!

I'm super excited to be here today to kick off the new year with my first projects for Blue Fern Studios!

My name is Kris Berc.  I live in fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada with my wonderful husband, our amazing daughter, and our 3 fluffy kitties.  I have a career as a school psychologist, and I work with students who are experiencing learning, behavioral, and emotional difficulties in school.  At home, I enjoy hanging out with my family, keeping up with social media, and of course, scrapbooking, all the while feeding my addiction to diet coke.

Scrapbooking is my escape from life's demands.  I enjoy the creative process as much as the finished project.  There is just something so calming about playing with pretty paper and embellishments!

I'm absolutely thrilled to be designing for Blue Fern Studios.  I hope that I can inspire you to take out your Blue Fern products and create some very pretty things!

I'd love for you to visit me on my social media:

Now, on to my layouts for January!

It's a Holly Jolly Christmas

This is my daughter on Christmas day in 2015.  She looks so joyful in the photo, so I felt that the "It's a Holly Jolly Christmas" chipboard piece was a great match.  I heat embossed it with Antique Gold embossing powder.

I used the same embossing powder on some of the Turkish Bits chipboard pieces, and I tucked them in behind my flower clusters.

I have a tremendous love for flowers, so I love to use them in clusters on my projects.  I used a handful of the Christmas Blooms and Soft Blossoms, which I supplemented with a few additional flowers from my stash.

The flowers all have a subtle touch of gesso dabbed on to soften up the look.  Below you can get a pretty good luck at one of my favorite Blue Fern stamps which I used with black ink on my background.  It's from the Forever set, and it adds awesome detail to the background.

Blue Fern Studios Products used:
paper: Vintage Christmas (Magical, Noel, Deck the Halls)
chipboard: It's a Holly Jolly Christmas, Turkish Bits
embossing powder: Antique Gold
flowers: Christmas Blooms, Soft Blossoms
stamp: Forever

Sweet

When I first laid eyes on the Heartland collection's Red Rose Ball paper, I immediately knew that I wanted to use a photo of my daughter in her jazz costume from last dance season.  That red costume was just screamin' for this paper!  I chose this sweet photo of Allison and her friend, Trinity, and as such, chose the "Sweet" chipboard piece for the title, which I embossed with Antique Gold powder.

I used the "Heartland Corner" chipboard piece to frame the photo.  I embossed part of it with Antique Gold embossing powder and part with Snow embossing powder for some contrast.

My flower cluster contains gorgeous blooms from 4 different Blue Fern collections: Heartland Blossoms, Heartland Roses and Blooms, Christmas Blossoms, and Spring Lilies.  I added a metal piece, a resin flower, sequins and bling from my stash.

Blue Fern Studios Products used:
paper: Heartland (Red Rose Ball, Kiss Kiss, Love Notes)
chipboard: Heartland Corner, Sweet
embossing powder: Antique Gold, Snow
flowers: Heartland Blossoms, Heartland Roses and Blooms, Christmas Blooms, Spring Lilies
stamp: Serendipity Medley

Sweet on You

One of the things that I love about living in Las Vegas is the fact that we can spend time outdoors during the winter without freezing.  I took this photo of my daughter a little over a month ago while she was posing in our backyard.

Ohh are the Heartland flowers pretty!  I clustered some light pink and white Heartland Roses and Blooms with some dark pink and white Heartland Blossoms and dabbed them slightly with gesso for a softening effect.  I tucked in a chipboard piece from the "Winter Page Dangles" set which I treated with Silver Bells embossing powder.

The "Sweet on You" chipboard piece was also treated with Silver Bells embossing powder and a few dabs of gesso to blend it with the rest of the page.

Blue Fern Studios Products used:
paper: Heartland (Valentine Party, Kiss Kiss, Love Notes)
chipboard: Sweet on You, Winter Page Dangles
embossing powder: Silver Bells
flowers: Heartland Blossoms, Heartland Roses and Blooms
stamp: Esssential Textures

In yesterday's blog post, we promised you a new feature in 2017, and it begins today!
We have so many "fans" of Blue Fern all over the world, and we would like to thank you by
bringing you on-board for an entire month.  We want everyone to see how talented you are.
This will be someone who is truly passionate about Blue Fern products.
We will introduce a new "Fan" at the beginning of each month, and then
feature a project from them each of the next three weeks.

We are excited to announce that our January Blue Fern Fan of the Month
is the talented Kathleen White of the United States.
We will let Kathleen tell you a little about herself:

My name is Kathleen White and I hail from Wylie, Texas with my hubby and two little
Boston Terrier babies.  My three real children are  grown and have flown the nest.
I made my first layout in 2001 and was hooked on scrapping ever since.

I love paper, flowers, bling, ribbons and lace, and all those pretty things!
I love to tear, wrinkle, sew and  get messy with gesso, mists and paint.

I also love photography and my main subjects are my daughters and my grandson!

I love designing with Blue Fern Studios paper collections.
This is one of my favorite pieces featuring my grandson playing in the fall leaves.

We can't wait to share 3 more layouts from Kathleen this month.
