Oldies but goodies with a dash of new ~ Sandi

Hello there, Blue Fern Studios fans!
Thanks for stopping by our Blog.

Sandi here with you today to share my July projects using a variety of paper collections and chipboard as well as our other products which are so perfect for embellishing what we create!

I'll begin with a layout I created for my son-in-law in memory of his dad. This photo is very special to him and I had promised to scrap it for him. After several false starts, I finally found a great fit with the Serendipity Reminisce side A and then used Merriment, Calling Cards, Fascination and Chronicle for my photo layers.

This is "Bob and little granddaughter Peyton" standing by the lake.  So, I wanted to go with the blue tones and add pops of color as accents. I embossed the Chained bits with Seven Seas Embossing Powder. If you haven't tried that particular set, I highly recommend them.  Perfect for adding a little "edge" to your page. Of course, we needed some "plant life" to reside alongside the lake and I chose the newish Tranquil Foliage piece. After priming it with white gesso, I used gelatos and ink and then made a little sunflower which was Bob's favorite flower.

My background was created with super heavy gesso and a stencil. To create more dimension, I used an embossing ink with the Wallflower Stamp and then coated it with Watermelon Glitter.

This, of course, is a great shot of the amazing flowers Blue Fern is now carrying. These are the Attic Charm Glittered Rose and Attic Charm Daisies as well as a few of the Courtship Blooms. The chipboard title "Friends" is from the Arrow Words set and is embossed with Mushroom and then double-embossed with Honey.

A Calling Card for a subtitle.

More of the Watermelon stamping.

I finished with some black ink splatters, cheesecloth and art stones.

These two cuties are my nieces, Kim and Karen. I'll be seeing them in about a week and I'm so excited! Since I didn't have a particular paper collection that I needed to highlight, I reached back for the Frolic collection and used Frolic Veranda, Petits Moments, Calling Cards, Dans Le Jardin and Amoroso. I enjoyed doing some "rare for me" fussy cutting of the sweet frames and used them as layers along with chipboard. Side B of Petits Moments is my base layer.

I wanted a subdued, uniform look for the under layers, so both the Spanish Tiles and Whimsy Flourishes piece are simply painted with white gesso.  You can see that I had lots of fun with layers!

I wanted the Selfie title to really pop, so went for the Heavenly embossing powder! It's the bomb if you want a great bright blue that looks sparkly! Of course, I've used lots of flowers, Attic Charm Glitter Roses, Attic Charm Daisies, Tranquil Blooms and Tranquil Roses and Lilies. There in the corner is my Whimsy Flourish.

I'm so loving the frames cut from the Frolic Amoroso paper. Wish I'd done it sooner!

Here you can see some of the background stamping with the Halftone stamp and the Serendipity Medley Stamp. I added some splatters and shadowing with a blue mist from my stash. Then finished with art stones.

Awesome dimension!

Here is the newest little scrapper in our family.  After seeing some of my recent layouts, she got busy creating some for her mom!
I've used mostly Attic Charm paper for this layout but my title note is from Serendipity. My base layer is Attic Charm Foyer.

The Leafy Swirl Frame and Gatsby Collage were treated similarly. I went with my new fave way of alternating embossing powder colors on both these pieces, using Cotton Candy, Fern, Buttercup and Ginger.

A close-up of the Gatsby Collage chipboard and some of the Blue Fern Studios flowers.

You can see some of my stamping here as well as one of the Ironworks pieces which was simply embossed with Ginger and tucked into some layers.

I love the Ironworks pieces for tucking into floral clusters as well.

One last look at the dimension and colors.

A Mixture of Everything by Nicole Doiron

Hello!  This is Nicole and it's my turn to share with you some creations featuring plenty of Blue Fern Studios goodies!  This month, in wait of the brand new collection, Seaside Cottage (click HERE to see it!) that is on its way to me via post and which I will prominently feature in my August reveal, I decided to dig into my BFS stash and pick some of my all-time favorites... oldies but certainly still goodies!

Let's start with this very sunny layout featuring the beautiful Frolic collection!

I thought that these papers were perfect for this very Summery page!  I wanted my layout to be happy and fun so I started with the title 'Frolic in the Sun' colored in an ombre effect over some stenciled yellow sunrays, all using different Imagine Ink embossing powders and glitter.

Below you see some of the pretty Attic Charm Daisies.  The yellow flower was an Attic Charm Glitter Rose from which I removed the center and replaced with a royal blue brad to go with my palette.

To go along with my sunrays, I used the smaller Looped Frame in the upper right corner of my design while using the larger one behind my photo. They were both covered with a combination of Buttercup and Honey embossing powders.

I fussy cut some of the butterflies from the patterned paper and popped them up throughout.

This sweet photo of little Jade 'frolicking in the sun', very proudly showing off her parasol, was the perfect photo for my page!

Chipboard: Frolic in the Sun, Looped Frames, Leafy Page Accents
Flowers: Attic Charm Glitter Roses, Attic Charm Daisies
Imagine Ink: Embossing Powders (In the Navy, Cerulean, Bonny Blue, Buttercup, Honey), Glitter (Sunshine)

While my first layout is very bright and sunny, this one is a little darker, using the Timeless collection.

I absolutely adore this dark brown woodgrain paper and had to use it as my background.  I added some stenciling with black molding paste and some stamping designs with white ink.  I mixed 3 shades of embossing powders (ebony, auburn & mushroom) to colour the title and the Floral Lattice Bits.

I created some elegant flower clusters using some beautiful Blue Fern Studios blooms along with more from my stash, adorned with fancy brads and badges.

The focal point of my layout is the fantastic Sweetheart Dressform - this piece is just so elegant!  I covered it with magenta embossing powder, then dabbed with a little white.

For my last project, I created a mixed media canvas using lots of BFS chipboard, flowers and Imagine Ink mediums.

My base was created using layers upon layers of mediums.  I have to be honest, I started over this project about 3 times, not being satisfied with the result.  They say... third time's a charm.  Well, this proved to be true for me with this canvas.  After much gesso, molding paste, crackle paint, mists and inks, I added the final touches to it with some Imagine Ink embossing powder and glitter mixed in with glitter glass to create the pinkish shimmery texture.  I love the way it turned out!

I chose the title Dreams Come True as the theme for my canvas because we are all dreamers at heart, and I'm hoping that this canvas could bring a little hope and inspiration to someone somewhere someday.  I first covered this piece with Peacock embossing powder.  Such a beautiful colour!!!  And then, I dabbed some clear gesso and heated it to add some bubbly texture to it.

All the flowers used on my canvas are from Blue Fern Studios.

I fussy cut some butterflies and added die-cut scalloped squares, all from the Frolic line.  The "Dare to Dream" sentiment comes from the Paisley & Vine collection.

And last, but certainly not least, take a look at the gorgeous Victorian Fan!  I used Lime embossing powder on it as well as on the Checker Bits.

I hope I was able to inspire you with my creations today!

July Inspiration With Debbie, Featuring Serendipity and Sanctuary

Hi everyone!  Hope everyone here in the USA is enjoying their summer.  The weather has been up and down, sunny, hot, mild and breezy with a twist of rain. Can't complain though.  Lots of time to spend outdoors on the weekends!  Today I have three layouts to share created with the Serendipity and Sanctuary paper collections, along with lots of chipboard, embossing powders, glitter and  flowers.
My first layout features the Serendipity paper collection and a sweet photo of a friend's daughter.   I used the Merriment paper for the background and added some texture  with some masking, paint splatters, misting with the Imagine Ink Sky and Cotton Candy Mists, along with some random stamping with the Garden Frolic stamp.   The layers under the photo are from Calling Cards, Anticipation, Chronicle and Fascination.

I used the Deja Vu Dangle Chippies here, embossed with many colors, Mushroom, Snow, Auburn, Fuchsia and Breeze.

To the side of my photo is a cluster of Blue Fern flowers, including the Attic Charm Daisies and Glitter Roses along with some Tranquil Lilies.  I cut apart a Berry Stem chipboard piece which was embossed with a mixture of Auburn and 14 Karat embossing powders.  I added a few metal flowers which were embossed with Snow, 14 Karat, Breeze and Fuchsia embossing powders.

Here I've placed pieces of the Quatrefoil Panel and Tangier Page Panel, both embossed with Snow, 14 Karat, Breeze and Fuchsia embossing powders along with a sprinkling of Blue Ice and The Pink Ladies Imagine Ink Glitter.

My next layout features the Glee paper from the Serendipity collection.   I added some  masking and paint splatters.  Layers  underneath the photo are from the Imagination paper and Keepsakes paper from the Timeless collection.  I had a lot of fun working on this layout mixing embossing powders to compliment my picture, which I took it a few years ago.  I have a big planter on my deck full of daisies.

The Blooming Flourish chipboard was embossed with a mixture of Verdant, Sage and Auburn embossing powers.  I cut the flourish in half and used it on both sides of my photo.  The Royal Monarch Butterfly and Mini Ring Things chipboard were covered in brown ink and then embossed with a mixture of Verdant, Auburn, Chili Power and Tangerine Embossing Powders.

The title is from the Brilliant, Amazing, Dazzling word set, embossed with the same mixture of embossing powers I used on the butterfly and mini rings.  I used a stencil on the background with some brown texture paste and sprinkled on some Autumn Glitter and Auburn embossing powder.

Three layouts, three collections by Marie-Eve Bernard

Hello,

I hope you enjoy summer and spending time outside with your family and friends....but also have some time to be creative!  There is some inspiration for you!  I play with three different collections of papers.

Jubilation:

This layout feature my parents and my oldest daughter.  She is  so happy when they are around!  We have the chance to have them near, so we often have some quality time with them! To create this layout, I use the Tranquility and the Attic charm paper collections.

For my background, I use the Serenity paper from the Tranquility Collection.  Then I randomly cut the Stillness paper (Tranquility collection) and the Calling cards paper (Attic Charm Collection). I glue those pieces on the background paper to had texture.  Then, I cover the hole thing with clear gesso and had some white gesso randomly.  When dry, I had some stamping with the Serenity Medley Stamp set and the Arcadia Texture stamp set.  Finally, I play with my inks.

For my title, I use the Blissful, Jubilation, Patience chipboard set.  I emboss it with the Imagine Ink Cotton Candy Embossing powder. To had texture to my creation, I use the Mesh Bits Chipboard set.  On this set, I had Imagine Ink Watermelon glitter.

On my layout, I use a variety of flowers.  I use some Courtship Blooms and Attic Charm Daisies.  The others where flowers from my stash.

Capture The Moment:

On this picture, you can see my two daughters ready for there dance show!  They love dance classes and the show, at the end of the season, is a moment that they are waiting for!  They are so proud.  I use the Tranquility Collection.

On this Layout, I use the Calm and the Jubilation paper from the Tranquility collection. I use both sides of those papers.  I tear them and glue them on a old and ugly paper from my stash (certainly not Blue Fern one! LOL). I recover the surface with clear gesso.  Then, i stamp with the Forever Stamp set and the Vintage Edges stamp set.  I had color with various blues inks.  Surrounding my picture, I use the Keepsake Frame Chipboard.  I cut it in two to make it wider.  I leave it natural, just had a little bit of with gesso with a dry brush.

For my title, I use the Captured Words chipboard set.  I Emboss it with the Imagine Ink In the Navy Embossing Powder.

I use some Courtship Blooms and Tranquil Roses and lilies flowers from  Blue Fern. The printed ones are from my stash. The leaves are from the Natural springs Chipboard set.  I emboss the leaves in Imagine Ink Lime Embossing powder first. Then I had a touch of Imagine Ink Sage Embossing Powder

In the top corner, I use a piece from the Framed Trinquet Chipboard set.  Live it natural, but had a tiny bit of white gesso with a dry brush.

Blissful:

For my last creation, I use the Serenity Paper Collection.  This picture of Mathilde and me was taken at the airport, just before we take the plane for our last family vacation in France.  It was a very joyful moment.  What a good memory!

For my creation, I use 3 papers from the Serenity collection:  Reminisce, Calling cards and Contemplation.

On my background, I stamp with the Garden frolic Stamp set and the Arcadia Texture stamp set. I emboss the Garden frolic stamp with the Imagine Ink Petal Embossing powder.  For my title, I use the Blissful, Jubilation, Patience chipboard set.  I emboss it with the Imagine Ink Mushroom Embossing powder

To add texture to the layout, I use the Floral Lattice Bits chipboard set and leave it unaltered. The frame i use is the Circle Vine chipboard.  I emboss it with Imagine Ink Petal Embossing powder

Thanks for watching!  See you next month and don't forget to enjoy summer!  It is going so fast!
