April Layouts and Tutorial with Bec

Hi, it's my day to share all my latest Blue Fern Studios layouts today!!!
This month I have three layouts from three different collections plus a video tutorial.

Capture the Moment

First up is my video with a layout made from the Love Story Collection. I had been going through my papers looking for something else when I came across this background paper (Cotillion) which I automatically wanted to make a layout with, so that's how this layout came about.

Please enjoy my video here

Produts Used:
Love Story Collection Papers: Cotillon & Concerto
Chipboard: Techno Rings & Captured Words Set
Embossing Powder: Ginger, Honey, 14 Karat, Ebony
Stamps: Forever
Glitter: Pyrite
Flowers: Courtship Roses & Courtship Blooms

Smile

For my second layout I used the Courtship Lane collection with lots of the gorgeous new Courtship flowers. I am so super excited that Blue Fern Studios are now making flowers to go with the collections !!!!!! :D

I used the Bourbon Lane paper as my background piece, which I preped with clear gesso before I added colour with pink and purple sprays.  Next I added texture with a stencil and modeling paste, I also added some sparkle with Dusty Rose Glitter.

I cut the Shabby Brick Panel to the size I wanted, then all I did to this piece was add a coat of white gesso. I coloured my other chipboard with embossing powder, the Chelsea Vines  in Lime and the word Smile with Iris.

I fussy cut out various floral images from the Courtship Lane papers to tuck under my flowers.

I finished my layout with a little random stamping.

Products Used:
Courtship lane collection Papers: Bourbon Lane, Lovers Lane, Calling Cards,
Chipboard: Shabby Brick Panel, Chelsea Vines & Smile from the Laughter, Happy, Smile set
Glitter: Dusty Rose
Embossing Powder: Lilac & Lime
Stamp: Essential Textures & Forever
Flowers: Courtship Roses and Courtship Blooms

 Love

Finally I have the layout I made using this months sketch

The April Sketch

Here are my close ups

I used the Frolic Collection paper Calling Cards as my background paper, then I started the layout by stamping the Vintage Edges stamp in embossing ink and adding the Honey Embossing Powder.  I love the delicate details it adds to the background.

Next I added modeling paste through a stencil,  then a tiny bit of colour with a few splashes of pink mist.

I used the Cotton Candy,  Lime and Honey Embossing Powders to colour my chipboard.  Embossing powder is a very simple way of colouring chipboard as it gives you full coverage very easily. All the Blue Fern Imagine Ink Embossing Powders are opaque so there is no need to prime the chipboard with gesso first so it's even easier.

I cut the butterfly images from the Dans Le Jardin paper then added glitter in Dusty Rose and Peridot  to the wings and liquid pearls down the centre to make easy butterfly embellishments.

Products Used:
Frolic Collection Papers: Calling Cards,  Secretary, Allegro and Dans Le Jardin
Chipboard: Roman Clock Set - small,  Love from the Adore, Love Cherish Word Set,  Mini Flourishes and Ornate Frame
Embossing Powder: Cotton Candy,  Lime and Honey
Glitter: Dusty Rose and Peridot
Stamps: Vintage Edges

Thanks for stopping by today

April Projects by Cathi

Hello friends, Cathi here with some project for April! I am a little later this month as I was feeling very ill the last two weeks, and have nearly shaken the flu off, but it is still stubbornly lingering!! Once I felt better again I was able to finish off my projects and this first one is one of my favorites!

My daughter was in her first regional youth ballet performance last weekend. I took my cough drops and antibiotics with me and I watched her and the company perform some beautiful classical ballet pieces and contemporary pieces. She looks so elegant and so grown up in this photo, I just had to use it for a layout this month! The base page is the gorgeous Fondness paper from the Blush collection.

I used several cutouts from the Blush Calling Cards paper to tuck in underneath my photo, inking the edges in Walnut Stain Distress Ink.  Here you can see where I used the gorgeous Imagine Ink Snow and Lime Embossing Powders on the gorgeous Dare to Dream chipboard piece and Fancy Fob Watch piece. I also added some touches of Imagine Ink Cotton Candy Embossing Powder, a favorite of mine!

I have added some gorgeous Courtship Blooms and Roses along with some flowers from my stash. Again you can see the gorgeous Imagine Ink Lime, Snow, and Cotton Candy embossing powders on the fob chain.

To finish off my layout I used several stamp sets: Forever, Halftone, and Essential Textures using Walnut Stain and Worn Lipstick Distress Stains.

My next layout features the Serendipity collection and a photo of my great grandmother! I love to use actual vintage family photos of my own family and find this communion photo beautiful! For the base of this page I have used Serendipity Chronicle paper.

I cut the gorgeous Floral Spray chipboard piece and tucked it in under and around my photos. I colored the chipboard with the Imagine Ink Verdant embossing powder. You can also see some cut out pieces tucked in around the photo from the Serendipity Calling Cards page.

I used a lot of beautiful flowers from my stash and also tucked in two green Courtship Blooms. Again I took the Imagine Ink Verdant Embossing Powder and colored in the Reminisce chipboard from the Serendipity Words 2 set.  I did a lot of background stamping using the Essential Textures, Texture Circles and Forever stamp sets.

My final little chipboard I added was this adorable bird from the All Natural set that I tucked in my flower cluster. I used Imagine Ink Buttercup embossing powder to color in the little bird. I love it!

Finally, here is my layout I did for the April sketch challenge, featuring the gorgeous Courtship Lane papers and my ballerina who isn't camera shy in her costume for her youth ballet show, Coppelia!

Here is the gorgeous sketch this layout was based on:

Of course I had to used the ballerina from the Music Box chipboard, embossed with Imagine Ink Embossing Powder in Cotton Candy.  I have also done a little cluster in the top right hand corner of the layout with the Turkish Bits, again with the Imagine Ink Embossing Powder in Cotton Candy. Here you can see the gorgeous Courtship Lane Roses.

I have tucked in some of the Courtship Lane West Plaza paper under my photos here, adding more Courtship Lane Roses and Blooms. To tie in with the black lacing on the costume I have added some black seambinding in a bow and some black lace.  I have added some stamping from the music stamp from the Texture Circles Stamp Set and the diamond pattern from the Forever Stamp Set.

Here you can see more Courtship Lane blooms and the I Think You're Wonderful Chipboard  which I have embossed with the Imagine Ink Embossing Powders in Cotton Candy and Heavenly

To finish off my layout, I added some masking and molding paste and some purple splashes. I tucked in a tag for journaling and a Reneabouquet butterfly.

From Romance To Grunge by Nicole Doiron

It's me Nicole and I am thrilled to be back with you to share some of my creations.
I have 3 layouts to show you today, going from romance to more romance to grunge!

Let's start with this one... soft and elegant.... using the Courtship Lane collection.

I stamped some of the tiny dot stamp from the Halftones set and
used Imagine Ink Snow embossing powder to add texture to my background.

It's no surprise that one of my favorite themes to scrap is love. And so this title Amour from the French Words set, was perfect for this picture of me and my man!

The majestic chipboard piece below is French Ironwork.  I covered it, as I did to the title, with Mystic Plum embossing powder, then frosted it with a little white.

The smaller flowers used are from the brand new BFS Courtship Roses and Blooms set.  They're beautiful!

Bordering the photo is one of the Leafy Page Accents. and some fussy cut flowers.

Blue Fern Studios Supply List:
Paper: Courtship Lane (Lover's Lane, Bourbon Avenue, East Plaza, Calling Cards)
Chipboard: French Ironwork, French Words, Leafy Page Accents
Stamp: Halftones
Imagine Ink Embossing Powder: Mystic Plum, Snow
Flowers: Courtship Roses, Courtship Blooms

My second layout is quite similar in style to the first one .

I chose a combination of papers from the Sanctuary, Love Story and Frolic collections.
That is just one of the many things I love about Blue Fern Studios papers... no matter the collection, they are all so versatile and work together very well!

Creating part of my title is the word 'Happy' from the Optimist Word Set... I simply painted it red.
Then, dangling from the bottom of my picture is the Mini Frame Dangle which I cut in two pieces and covered with Imagine Ink Oatmeal embossing powder and white paint.  In the frame, I put a piece of red Frolic paper and added some Fire Engine glitter to give it a little sparkle.

The other piece of the Mini Frame Dangle I used on the left side of my page as a flourish sneaking up from the mini prints.  You can see glimpses of Garden Frolic stamp on my background.

Included in my flower clusters are the beige Courtship Blooms.  I sprinkled some more Fire Engine glitter in and about the flowers.

And last but not least, you can see some Frolic Mesh treated with Ebony embossing powder.
The picture is of Yves and I on one of our very first dates, which was already 10 years ago!

Blue Fern Studios supply list:
Paper: Sanctuary (Birdsong Melody, Calling Cards)
Love Story (True Harmony)
Frolic (Calling Cards)
Chipboard: Optimist Word Set, Frolic Mesh, Mini Frame Dangle
Stamp: Garden Frolic
Imagine Ink Embossing Powder: Oatmeal, Ebony / Glitter: Fire Engine
Flowers: Courtship Blooms

Now let's get down to the grunge part of this reveal!

This last layout today was inspired by the Blue Fern Studios April Sketch!

Ever since I started designing for Blue Fern Studios, I have been holding on to these particular chipboard pieces and was so anticipating creating the perfect boy layout.  I'm not sure if this layout is anywhere near perfect, but I have to say that I really love the way it turned out.

I started off a background paper from the Love Story collection and then covered it with blue and black mists as well as dabs of metallic blue paint and splatters of white.  I also did some black stamping using the Journey and Texture Set One. You can see here the title Boy Meets World which I embossed in Cerulean Imagine Ink embossing powder and lightly dabbed with more blue metallic paint.

For sure two of my favorite BFS chipboard pieces are the Techno-scape and Working Parts!  I love anything grunge and steampunk even though not my usual style.  On these pieces, I used Icicle embossing powder and then added some light dabs of blue.

Other chipboard used are two circle arrows from the Directions set, embossing with Ebony.

This gorgeous little boy is Tristan, my friend's son.

Blue Fern Studios Supply List:
Paper: Love Story (The Grand Ball)
Chipboard: Boy Meets World, Directions, Techno-scape, Working Parts
Imagine Ink Embossing Powder: Cerulean, Ebony, Icicle
Stamp: Journey, Texture Set One

Hope you enjoy!
I would love to read your feedback in the comments!

April Inspiration With Debbie

Hi everyone!  Debbie here with you today.    It's hard to believe that Spring is here.  It's been roller coaster of a ride with the temperatures.  One day in the 70's and the next day in the 40's.  I'm anxious to get outside and start prepping my flower beds, but I guess I am going to have to wait.  Hopefully next week it will warm up.  In the meantime, cooler temps makes for more scrappy time!  Today I have three  layouts to share created with the  Courtship Lane and Serendipity collections.
My first layout features papers from the Serendipity collection.   I used the Contemplation paper for the background and added some random stamping with the Arcadia Textures and Dreamy stamps.  The layers under the photo are from Calling Cards, Glee and Merriment. I also added flowers from the Courtship Blooms.

I took the Rose Collage chipboard and cut it in half.  I stamped it with some dark red and brown ink and then applied some Tattered Rose distress stain.  I then randomly applied  Dusty Rose Glitter.

Here you can see some of the Courtship Bloom flowers.  I added some Turkish Panel Chipboard pieces which I treated in the same fashion as the Rose Collage.

My title Anticipation is from the Serendipity Words 1.  To the right of the picture is the other half of the Rose Collage.

My next layout features papers and flowers from Courtship Lane and a treasured family photo.  I used side B of Bourbon Avenue for the background.  Some random stamping with the Brocade Texture and Romantic Textures stamps and some light masking.  Lots and lots of fussy cutting to add multiple layers under my photo.  I used the Main Street, Concert Hall and Calling Cards papers.  Scattered about you will find flowers from Courtship Roses and Courtship Blooms.

On both sides of my layout I used Organic Vine Corner chipboard which I embossed with Lilac and White embossing powers.  Tucked beneath the photo are pieces from the Spring Trinkets chipboard which I embossed with White and Fuchsia embossing powders.

The title was embossed with a mixture of White, Fuchsia and Mystic Plum Embossing Powders.

My final layout was created for the April Sketch Challenge.

I chose to scrap a photo of my mom, sister, brother and I from way back when.  I used the Lovers Lane side B paper for my background and the Parkway paper to create layering under my picture.  Lots of stamping on my background using the Dreamy, Romantic Accents and Arcadia Textures stamps and paint splatters.

I used a mixture of the Sage, Honey and Garnet embossing powders on the Tangier Page Panel chipboard,  along with some Peridot, Merlot, Pyrite and Grape Glitter.

Here you can see some of the new Courtship Bloom Flowers in brown and tan.  For those  interested that cute little girl in the picture is me!

To the right of my photo I used the Lace Heart Border which I embossed with the Sage and Honey embossing powers.  I added some gold microbeads and Peridot glitter.

My title is from the Captured Words chipboard set.  I went a little crazy with the embossing using a mixture of Sage, Honey and Garnet embossing powers along with some Pyrite glitter.
