Decorated boxes by Yvonne Yam

Hello there. It's Yvonne Yam here to share my December projects with you. This month, I used my current fave Blue Fern Studios chipboard - Rings Panel and gold paint, to decorate two different boxes.

For the first box, I went the girly route by adding pearls and trim and the edges and used the Rings Panel chipboard to add a little texture and dimension to the lid of the box.

For my second box, I decided to create an ornate box because of the shiny foil patterned paper I used.

I added pearls to the Rings Panel chipboard for texture and drama. These panels were added to the top and sides of the lid.

Hope you've enjoyed the projects I've shared the last 6 months using the lovely chipboard from Blue Fern Studios. :)

Thank-you SO much for sharing your talent with us, Debby! Please email me {erin@bluefernstudios.com} within 7 days to claim your prize :)

Our Top 3 Features:

Stokely WOWED us with this stunning, neutral-toned layout. She cut our Blooming Flourish in half, dressed it up with plenty of texture, and placed it beneath her photo. Thank-you for joining us this month, Stokely! We LOVED this!!

As much as we love dolled-up chipboard, we also love to see it in its natural state, and Caroleanne has done it perfectly here! We love the way our Chickenwire Panel was cut and how it cascades down as a backdrop for her title. Perfect!

What perfect timing for a festive Christmas layout! We sure do love the treatment of our Twiggy Branch; perfect for a wintery feel!

Thanks once again to everyone who played along this month! We hope to see you again :)

It started with 2 pieces of Kraft paper...

It's me, Lisa!! December is here!! I hope that everyone is getting into the holiday spirit!!! Well, with the hustle and bustle of the season, It may be a little difficult to find time to create. But Create I must, so I pulled out 2 pieces of 12x12 Kraft paper..After all, it is the color of chipboard. I covered them with gesso...Then the magic began...

I created this layout as a gift for a dear friend who lost her husband this year.
I primed the Graduated Circles with gesso. Then painted them with acrylic glaze and dabbed some black paint over it when it was dry.

I painted the By the Sea words with flat black acrylic paint.

I always save the innards from my panels chipboard. The diamonds came from the Harlequin Page Panel. I glued them to the background and painted them with gesso to blend in, before I sprayed the whole page with mists.

This next layout was totally inspired by Australian artist Di Garling. I just pulled some chipboard from my collection and got busy.

To adorn the Spring Branch, I covered it with some texture paste and let it dry. Then I painted it with acrylic glaze.

I painted the Doodle Flowers with acrylic glaze as well. I added a rhinestone to the middle of this one.

I painted and tucked some of the Doodle Flowers among the flower cluster.

Thank you for joining me today on the Blue Fern Studios Blog. Make sure you check back often to see the inspiration created by Design Team. You can join me on my blog for details, and the story behind the By The Sea layout.

Panels with Patter

Hi! Patter here with some Blue Fern Studios panel inspiration for you today. I have used both the Quatrefoil Panel and the Chain Link Panel along with some other Blue Fern Studios pieces. This month, there have been several occasions in which I have had to make cards to send. So, armed with my great Blue Fern Studios products, I will share two of those cards with you today using panels and other chipboard.

A Card for Ordination
My friend was ordained on the 17th so this was the card I made for her. I started the bottom layer with patterned paper and the Blue Fern Studios Quatrefoil Panel. I inked it in distress ink and then added embellishments on top. It makes a great backgound piece.
I also added a couple of Blue Fern Bits that I colored with gelatos and layered them with my other embellishments.

A Sympathy Card
Our senior pastor's father passed away this month. I used the above card for inspiration but this time I used the Blue Fern Chain Link Panel. I also inked this panel in distress ink and placed the panel in the background.
I then used the Blue Fern Studios Organic Vine. I spritzed it with water and let it sit for a minute. Once the water had soaked in and the chipboard was soft, I began peeling up some of the leaves. I then spritzed with a mix of water and gesso and let it dry overnight. In the morning, I added several gelato colors and spread them around with a wet paintbrush. I then spritzed with a bit of green mist and let dry. I always like this effect. It comes out different every time.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you will use some Blue Fern Studios panels on your next card or other paper creation!

Clean Up! w/Erin Blegen

Good morning! Erin Blegen here with you today to share a few projects using some of the newer Blue Fern Studios products. I started out with a layout and then decided to clean up my scrap space and create next a card and tag using paper and chipboard scraps. What a way to get organized and creative at the same time ;)!

"What a Wonderful Day!"
I was looking back on some older photos and found this precious set of my middle child from the summer of 2012. I remember clearly this day- and it truly was wonderful :). I wanted to create something happy, conveying that through my fun color scheme and accompanying chipboard elements. Using one of the Film Strips pieces, I was able to include a few extra little photos from that day :)

I love these adorable, contemporary Memory Frames! I simply dabbed this one with a chalk edger pad.

A simple coat of yellow acrylic paint dressed up these Shabby Bricks Bits pieces, which added to my layering with fun texture and interest :)

Next up, I have my "scrap" projects:

"Love"
Since I had the Memory Frames out, I decided to create a sweet tag. After priming with gesso, I applied some clear embossing ink, mist, and white sparkly embossing powder and set it with a heat gun.

"Reach & Wander"
For my final project, I took some of the Tattered Diamond Bits and a partial Film Strips piece to accent this simple scrap card using up some leftover papers from my layout. Sometimes all you need is a little gesso and maybe some stamping and you're set!
