Blue Fern Studios goes spring with Eila

Hello there! Eila here to share 3 pages with you. We are having promises of spring in my parts of the world, although we've still got many weeks to go before all the snow is gone. The light is different and even the air has got something special to it.

Here is the first page - "Adorable" and gosh isn't he just one cute bubba, the son of my youngest cousin!

The pretty title chippie Adorable is from the BFS set of words called GOOD VIBES (074899). I simply inked it in Archival Ink in Black to make it stand out and show the beautiful "handwriting".

Blue Fern Studios: Good Vibes
(074899)

I have also used the top half of the BFS ROYAL BIRD FRAME (074592) which I flipped over.

I used mist and a couple of different inks on it.

(074592)

I also used one of the BFS SPRING IRIS - SMALL (074912) on my page.

 (074912)

Glimmer Glaze and Glimmer Glam were added on the flowers before black ink was applied to the edges.

Other products used from my stash: Prima papers, Prima resin, Prima embellishment, Prima masks, Prima stamps, Melissa Frances resin, Webster's Pages lace/ribbons, Tattered Angels mists, Glaze and Glam, and Ranger inks.

My second page is called Love.

The chipboard title is from the same BFS set of words called GOOD VIBES that I used for my previous page.
I so adore the BFS butterflies in the BRIGITTE BUTTERFLY SET! (074387) such perfect sizes and perfect number of 3 in the package. Here I have used 3 equally small ones.

(074387)
I accentuated the misted shimmer by painting the butterflies in Glimmer Glaze. Now we're talking about shimmer, just like flashes of jewels when the sun hits butterfly wings! I then added some silver sequins to them.

Other products used from my stash: Prima papers, Prima note cards, Prima flowers, Prima stamps and mask, Zva pearl swirl, doilies, lace, gold acrylic paint, generic silver sequins, Tattered Angels mist, Glaze and Glam.

My third page is called Happiness and that's because I just love potting flowers and seeing things grow.

I have used the gorgeous PRINCESS WINDOW (074578) under the photos.

Blue Fern Studios: Princess Window
(074578)

The weathered-flaking-paint effect was achieved by dabbing the chipboard in acrylic paint and distress ink before painting the chipboard in Glimmer Glaze in Saffron.

I have also used a Spring Iris - Large (074875) to the right of the photos.

(074875)

The stems were painted heavily in a yummie green Glimmer Glaze and the flower heads were misted in heavily to get intense pooling. The dark pinkish is Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam in Lipstick Pink.

The title Happiness is from the word set GOOD VIBES (074899) that I have used on both previous layouts. It was treated in the same way as the Princess Window.

Other products used from my stash: Prima papers, Prima flowers, Prima resins, Prima stamps and mask, Petaloo flowers, Webster's Pages lace/ribbon, MME twine, acrylic paint, inks and mists.

Thanks ever so much for your visit! please do come back for some more yummie inspiration from our DTs! See you!

A layout, a card and a tag by Camilla

Hi everybody! Camilla here. I am back to share some Blue Fern Studios projects today. I have made a layout, a card and a tag. First a layout with my smiling niece. For my layout I have used some gorgeous swirly chipboards to frame the photo.

To alter the chipboards I first applied Distress Stain (faded jeans) and then dabbed it with white gesso.

Supplies:
074509 Blooming Flourish

Other products used:
Dies (Sizzix), papers (Creative Imaginations), doily, border punches, flowers (Manor House Creations, Prima), alpha stickers (Prima), leaves, digital dies

Then a simple card for every occasion - I haven't added any sentiment and have kept the colours very neutral.

Since I wanted a white washed look on the chipboard to match the lovely papers, I just dabbed it with white gesso.

Supplies:
074530 Symphony Border

Other products used:
Papers: Maja Design: Life By the Sea collection (The east coast)
Other: border punches, thread, die

And finally...my tag. I am going to use it as a card.

I have just painted the chipboard pieces with white gesso and then on the vine chipboard I added some micro beads.

Supplies:

074622 Organic Vine Corner (large)
074561 Country Picket Fence

Other products used:

Papers: Maja Design: Life By the Sea collection (The east coast, Sailing)
Other: gesso, mini pearls, stamp (Pink Paislee), rub-on (Kaisercraft), ribbon, string, digital die, flowers (Prima), leaves

I hope you liked my projects!

See you!

Blue Fern for Boys and Girls by Svetlana Austin

Hello everyone! Svetlana is here with my portion of March projects.
Blue Fern Studios chipboard is not only amazingly beautiful and intricate, it is also very versatile
even when it comes to project's styles.
Today I want to share with you a pretty girly layout, then another one about my little boy
and a bright and funky birthday card. I hope you will enjoy it.

"So Sweet" layout

For this bright and colorful layout I used Floral Wreath and a cute little bunny shape from Icons Set One.
I decorated the wreath by roughly applying a layer of gesso and then dabbing some parts with blue acrylic paint.
I followed it with some more dabbing of green paint all over and finished it off with liquid pearls dotted along the edges of the wreath.

The bunny was covered with some coarse texture paste. I like the amount of texture it gives and the brownish neutral color. Once it was dry, I sprayed it with blue Perfect Pearls for some shimmer and dabbed lightly
with acrylic paint - and here he is ready to hop :-)

"Enjoy The Moment" layout

I wanted to create a layout that highlights the earthiness and the natural feel of the place
where the pictures were taken.
I sprayed the Seasonal Wildflowers chipboard with green glimmer mist and covered it with crackle accents
for some extra texture.

I roughly painted the frame with thick layer of rich brown craft paint.
It is one of the easiest way to decorate chipboard but it defiantly adds some nice touch to any project.

Birthday Card

It was my little boy's birthday just a week ago so I created this card for him.
It is bright and fresh and he really liked it.
There are some pretty cool shapes in Icons' Sets and it is perfect for creating some small projects as cards.
Here I used an arrow and a star. I applied some gesso over it and then a layer of distress stickles
for some festive sparkle.

Happy Blue Fern Studios Sunday!!

I hope everyone is doing something creative this fine Sunday! It is me, Lisa, sharing some Blue Fern Studios product with you today. Something about birdcages makes me sing!! And the beautiful Fancy Birdcage was just the perfect piece for this layout. I absolutely adore the piece that the birdcage appears to be hanging from. A gorgeous iron scrollwork piece that is the "arm". You can use the bird cage alone, or you can add the arm  and even change the position of that piece so that it stands upright. I played with the position until I was satisfied with the way it sit on this layout.

Here is a close up of the birdcage. I used a Martha Stewart iridescent paint and stippled it on using my finger. When the paint was dry, I gave it a second coat. The result is a beautiful soft stucco texture. I used a pretty vine trim and wove it around the "arm" of the piece that the bridcage appears to be hanging from.

                                                                                           Model: 074677

For the title, I used one of the "words" from the "Good Vibes Word Set". I stippled on some white gesso, then while the gesso was still wet, sprayed it with the same spray I used to spray the background paper, flowers and gauze.

                                                                                                 Model: 07489

My next project is a mini album that I started. I have the cover done, and plan to fill the inside pages with more Blue Fern Studios chip board.

I used 2 butterflies from the beautiful Brigittte Butterfly set. The technique I used on them was a simple heat embossing using  Ranger's Tim Holtz Distress powder in Antique Linen. It gave them a beautiful old stone finish.

                                                                                                 Model: 074387

For the Vintage Lock, I heat embossed the piece with gold embossing powder. It has a hammered gold metal finish.

For the lock and keys. I used the same heat embossed gold finish and hung the pieces on a jump ring before I tied it to the seam binding ribbon on the spine of my mini.

                                                                                               Model: 074783

This next layout, I decided to leave the beauty of some of  the chip board in its bare form with a  touch of ink to give it a little dimension.

I split the Blooming Foliage chip board in half and placed a flower in the middle. It makes a beautiful filler for your flower clusters.
                                                                    Blooming Foliage

For the Tuscan Window, I used texture paste and stippled it on the pieces using my finger. When it was dry, I inked the edges. It gave it a weathered look.
                                                                     Tuscan Window

I used the word LOVE from the Good Vibes Word Set. Just a simple brush of ink over it to give it depth was all it needed.

I will be back throughout  the month with more of my work with Blue Fern Studios chipboard. There are new collections being added all of the time. Thank you for taking a peek today and come back for more inspiration from our fabulous designers.

Dress Forms and Floral Clocks...

There is just something so dreamy and romantic about dress forms. I have this favorite photo of my eldest daughter Nicole when she dressed up as a princess for a day at Disneyland.
I wanted a page that would reflect the grandeur and fairytale-like quality of that day
and I knew that the "Sweetheart Dress Form" would be the perfect accessory for the page.

For the Dress Form, I just painted it with light pink Acrylic paint and then coated it with white enamel and pink glitter embossing powders. Heat set.

I also added a small vintage lock here...

Sweetheart Dress Form

Vintage Locks

For this album cover, I used the Floral Clock as a base for my bouquet of flowers. It fit perfectly in the center of the page cover and just added the right texture and dimension. I love this piece so much!

For the floral clock, I first painted the chipboard with cream paint and let it dry. I then lightly brushed intwith a thin coat of clear tar gel and sprinkled some aged gold fine glitter and mica flakes in pearl. Tap off the excess and lightly press down the glitter and mica flakes with your palette knife.

I hope you have been inspired to take out your chipboard pieces and play along! These pieces are so durable that you can layer lots and lots of mediums on top of it. Just keep going until you get the effect you are aiming for. Have fun!

Hugs,
Iris
