Pretty as a Picture by Lisa Landry

Today I'm very happy and excited to show you the second layout I've created
as the Blue Fern Studios October Fan of the Month.

This is my beautiful Mom when she was just 18 years old in 1948.
I knew this lovely photo would be perfect for the breathtaking page named
Picturesque in the Blue Fern Studios Homespun collection!

My designs always coordinate around pretty paper, rather than covering it up.
That's exactly what I've done here.  Not only is the gorgeous paper a stand out,
but so are all of the embellishments!

Every one of my creations has special meaning for me in some way.  This one of course is my dear mother, but also I noticed that she's wearing a pearl necklace.  I rummaged through the costume/faux jewelry pieces of hers and found a pearl necklace.  Some snippets from it really add a little bit more of 'her' in this layout.

I was especially excited to see things about sewing in this gorgeous Homespun collection.
My mother could sew very well and often made dresses for me when I was a child.
She later made many of them for my daughter too.

I fussy cut & edge inked some ornate scissors from the Crafty page.
They fit nicely at the bottom of the 'frame'.

On the Calling Cards page were lots of choices too.  The 'Simple Sewing Cards' is adorable and a great corner fit.  Also, how perfect it is to use the word 'Homemade'.  Homespun Bloom really dressed up these cute cards!

The photo is placed on cardboard for added dimension & then framed by a pretty floral piece that is found on the backside of the Picturesque page.  The beautiful Blue Fern chipboard piece, Royal Border, is heat embossed in Rusty Rose.  The entire piece was then lightly brushed with matte gel and heavily coated with Ruby Slippers glitter. I let this dry and set, then brushed off excess areas with my fingertip and a dry paint brush.

Look how gorgeous it turned out.

I made two matching flower clusters for each side of the photo with the pretty Homespun Blooms.  Red Christmas berry picks were added to match the printed ones on the page.
Blue Fern's beautiful flesh toned Lace 3 was the perfect size.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  I'm anxious to get started on next Wednesday's layout and I hope you'll be back to see it.  Have a great week everyone!

Fan of the Month Album and Video

We hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday.  It's week 3 with our Blue Fern Fan of the Month, Cheryl Kearns.  Today, we continue our journey through the romantic album she has created using our Spring Parade Collection, and include a video from Cheryl.

These pages are made with the “Remembrance” papers. I have a belly band running down the center of the left page, with a floral cluster and the Large Flourish chipboard. On the opposite page I made a magnetic flap with lace on the border. I have a floral cluster on top of the flap, with the Royal Border chipboard that I embossed with Cotton Candy embossing powder.

I used the “Sunday Best” to make pockets on both pages. I also used the Large Chipboard Flourishes to highlight my flowers.

Cheryl has created a video walk-through of this amazing album, which you can see on her blog HERE.

Thanks so much for joining us today.  We will be back next Wednesday with one final post from Cheryl.

July share from Karine

Hi there, Blue Fern Studios fans,

It's Karine here with you today to share the three layouts I created this month.

Happy

My first layout was created using the Hushed paper from the Tranquility collection. I based my color combo on the colors in the paper. I stamped a few times with the Making Plans stamp.

My layout is based on the Crosshatch frame that I embossed with Imagine Ink auburn and garnet embossing powders.

To add more interest around my picture, I used the Ironwork Edges, that I embossed with a dark brown embossing powder.

As for embellishments, I used some Courtship Blooms dans some Attic Charm Daisies.

My title, the Happy word from The Optimist Word Set, was left raw.

Next, I got to play with the beautiful Seaside Cottage collection. For this layout, I used the Mermaid paper. I altered it with two different stencils and with two texture paste: one white, one a gorgeous sandy color. I also used a blue ink spray.

I choose the Persian Ornament to go under my picture. I embossed it with Imagine Ink snow embossing powder.

To go over my picture, I chose the oval frame from the Mini Frames set, which I embossed also using the snow embossing powder.

I used some of the Tranquil Roses and Lilies in my flower arrangements.

My title piece, part of the Funny, Giggle, Smile set, was embossed in snow. Look at this close up on the paper. Isn't it just gorgeous?

Magique

My last layout uses the Regalia paper again from the Seaside Cottage collection. I just loooooove this paper! On my background, I used the Postal Textures stamps.

On the left side of the layout, I used the Royal Border, which I painted with an aqua metallic paint. While the paint was still wet, I sprinkled some Imagine Ink pearl embossing powder and heat set it. I love the end result. I also used a speech bubble with a heart (I hid the tail of the speech bubble under my flowers) from the Picture Perfect set. It was given the same treatment as the Royal Border.

To frame my main composition, I cut one of the Classic Ornaments in half and used both pieces (painted and embossed) around my flowers.

I used flowers from the Seaside Lilies, Tranquil Blooms and Tranquil Roses and Lilies. The little heart shape above the large mint flower comes from the heart speech bubble from the Picture Perfect set.

My title is part of the French Adjectives 2 set. It was coated with white gesso, and then painted with cream ink.

January Inspiration by Elena Volchkova

Hi! I'm really happy to be part of this amazing team and to inspire you on the blog.

My name is Elena Volchkova. I live in the Kiev, Ukraine.  I love to be creative and create many different projects. But they all are very tender and fabulous :) Scrapbooking fascinated me 4 years ago and I am now a true fan of this. I love to create and give cards. I like to keep the memory in layouts. In my projects I like to use romantic designs which is so easy with Blue Fern Studio products. I like flowers and lace. I like tenderness, and a natural style.  And sometimes I create teddy-bears and their friends, and even participate in exhibitions.
All of this is my lovely job;)

I'm so happy to present my first projects for Blue Fern Studios!

Romantic orchid layout

My first layout for today is with the gorgeous new Timeless collection and a photo of my sister with her flowers.

Beautiful chipboard Chelsea Medallion added charm to Layout. I used the Imagine Ink 14karat embossing powder to color the chipboard.

I cut a few pieces of paper from the Timeless collection to layer under my photo, I distressed all the edges. I also added lace, stones and pieces of vellum on which you can see Weathered Doilies Stamp with Imagine Ink Mistic Plum embossing powder.

Romantic card for Valentine

Very soon we are waiting for the most romantic holiday. It is impossible not to make a couple of valentines. Especially when we have this wonderful romantic collection - created for Valentine - Blush!
Here are two of my cards.

The first card is the music of love. Many flowers and tenderness,  all thanks to the Blush collection.
There are a lot of florals that can be cut from this paper.

Inside there is a pocket for a romantic letter. It is also decorated with paper cuttings from the  Blush collection.

My second card is also about love. And especially about love letters.  There are lots of wonderful images you can cut from Calling Cards (Blush collection).

I have added Sprigs of chipboard from Layering Stems and colored them with Imagine Ink 14 Karat embossing powder.   Today - it is my favorite powder! ;) And Heavenly, of course!

Play of colors - gold and silver - are created using Postal Textures Stamp

Vintage Christmas With Debbie

Hi everyone!  Debbie here with you today sharing 3 layouts I created with the new Vintage Christmas paper collection!  This is such a beautiful paper collection.

My first layout features the Deck The Halls paper.  Beautiful hues of reds and pinks! I layered underneath my photo with the Noel paper.

I used 4 different chipboard pieces here, Blooming Curls, Royal Border, Classic Ornament and Twinkle from the Winter Titles.  I misted the Royal Border and Classic Ornament with the Imagine Ink Cotton Candy Mist and added some micro beads.  I painted my title dark red and added some of the Petal Embossing Powder.

When using the Blooming Curls chipboard, I cut it apart and used it in three different places on my layout.  I also cut the Classic Ornament piece in half and used in on the top and bottom of my photo.

Another piece from the Blooming Curls shown here.

My next layout features Auld Lang Syne, Noel and Wonderland papers.  I primed my background with some clear gesso and did some random masking.  Then I added some Imagine Ink Cotton Candy Mist.

Love this old photo of my grandfather !  I cut apart the Holiday Frame chipboard and added a piece to the bottom of the photo that I misted with the Imagine Ink Winter Mint and Jingle Bells mist and then added some micro beads.

Tucked beneath the pink rose is another piece from the Holiday Frame chipboard.

Here I used a piece from the Damask Panel, misted with Imagine Ink Winter Mint and Jingle Bells.

Love the details in the Winter Sleigh chipboard.  I covered it with gesso and then added some Pyrite Glitter.

My final layout was created using the  November sketch.
I used the Auld Lang Syne, Noel and Wonderland papers.  After adding some masking to the background, I misted with the Persimmon and Jingle Bells Imagine Ink Mists

My title Magical is from the Winter Titles.  I painted it white and then randomly sprinkled it with Pyrite Glitter.

Pieces of the Berry Stems chipboard are placed with my flower clusters.  I pained the stems brown and added  Phoenix Glitter.

On each side of my photo I used The Holiday Vine Chipboard which I painted brown and added Phoenix, Pyrtie and Fern Glitter.

I hope you have enjoyed my layouts.  Don't forget that you still have time to enter our November Sketch Challenge.  You can find all of the details here.
