Homespun Family Recipe Box

Hello Blue Fern Studios Crafters, it's Aida from  @aidaville . Do you have favorite family recipes that everyone loves ? Keeping recipes and the stories about them is a wonderful way to remember and continue your family history. I've made a Recipe Box with decorated separators to help you organise the different recipes. The Homespun Collection is just perfect in soft shades of pinks, yellows and greens.

These are the Blue Fern Studios products I used :
Homespun Paper Collection and Printed Chipboard.
Others : Heavy weight white cardstock  |  Pale Green Glitter Cardstock | Buttons

The front of the box measures 6 inches (top and bottom) and 71/2 inches at the sides. This gave enough room to use the lovely chipboard shapes from the Printed Chipboard sheet. The word "Recipe" is die-cut from glitter cardstock.

Below are the closer photos of the Box.

The recipe separators are easily made from heavy cardstock and decorated with patterned papers and die-cut words. Each piece measures 4 1/2 inches at the top and 8 inches tall.

The tabs are circle punch outs with leftover papers.

Keeping family history alive is so important and using food to tell our stories is a great way to connect. I hope this post will start your own creative ideas on how to stow your favourite recipes.

Thank you for coming by today, have a good week ahead !

Mother's Day Box Card - Homemade

Hello Blue Fern Studios Crafters, it's Aida from  @aidaville .We are into May and coming right up is Mother's Day, with celebrations for the special women who are holding families together.  Today I have a Box Card that flattens down to be put into into an envelope for easy mailing, and opens up into a Box that sits upright very prettily, perfect for displaying. I've used mostly the Homespun Collection which with it's pale pinks and greens and embellishments in the theme of Home.

These are the Blue Fern Studios products I used :
Homespun Paper Collection and Printed Chipboard.
Others : Heavy weight white cardstock  |  Pale pink cardstock

Here you can see how it looks when flat, with all the lovely details in the front, leading to the surprise of popping into a 3-D Box simply by pushing in the sides !

This is how I started. The box is 4.5 inches square front and back, the sides are 2.5 inches on the top/bottom with the height of 4.5 inches.

2 strips of paper were adhered to the inside and the details attached to them.

When the box sits upright, the beautiful flowers of the paper create a garden feel.

The Teapot and Cup were fussy cut from the paper design.

In the photo below, the fussy cut details and printed chipboards are stacked in 3 layers.

A closer look of the layers in the top left corner.

I love working with the Blue Fern Printed Chipboards as it's an easy way to build up the layers very quickly.

Thank you for visiting the Blog today ! I hope this post will inspire you to create a handmade card of your own with a sweet message for your Mom.

I'll be back soon, keep coming by for more beautiful ideas from the Design Team.

April Inspiration by Debbie

Hi everyone!  Debbie here with you today to share my April layouts.  Seeing as Spring has just begun I got to thinking about all the beautiful colors of the flowers that will come into bloom and drew from that to create my projects.  I have two layouts using the In The Mood collection and one using the Homespun collection.

"Hushed"
This layout features the In The Mood collection.  I used the Amused paper for the background.  I applied some masking using an apricot paste.  Lots of layering under the photo using the Mellow paper.

I really like the mixture of embossing powder on the floral chipboard.  I mixed Blood Orange and Ivory.  The foliage is a mixture of Seafoam and Green Ivory. The flowers are Apricot Blooms.

Lots of layering with chipboard and here I've placed a flower from the Chesterville Florals.

Another closeup of the mixture of Blood Orange and Ivory embossing powders.

I used the same mixture of Blood Orange and Ivory embossing powders on the title.  Lots of layering under the photo with chipboard and flowers.

This layout also features the In The Mood collection. The background paper is Flirty, and I used Blissful and Mellow to created layers under the photo.  I added some stamping to the background with the Tattered Newsprint and Essential Textures stamps.

I first applied some light pink paste to the background using a rose stencil.  After applying the paste, I sprinkled it with some Pink Pearl Glitter.  The chipboard pieces were embossed with a mixture of Baby Pink and Iridescent Gray embossing powders.   I applied a mixture of Sterling Silver and Mauve Seedlings to the chipboard, flowers and background paper.

The lantern chipboard piece was embossed with a mixture of Iridescent Gray and Pearl embossing powders.  The flowers are from Moody Florals, Moody Blooms and Remnants Florals.

The title was embossed with Baby Pink embossing powder.

My third layout uses the Homespun collection.  I used the Tea Time paper on the background.

Lots of layering under the photo using the Homespun Printed Chipboard and Picturesque (side b), Homespun Minis, Calling Cards and Crafty papers.
All of the chipboard pieces were embossed with a mixture of Pretty In Pink, Baby Pink and Ivory embossing powders.  I stamped some flowers and embossed them with Baby Pink and fussy cut them.  I used a couple of flowers from the Moody Blooms.

The title was embossed with Baby Pink and if you look to the right of the photo you can see the stamped and embossed flowers.

Layouts & Vision Board by France Ringuette

Hi bloggers, I can't believe that it's March already. Time is flying but, but I am enjoying crafting for the Blue Fern Studios Design team. This month, I'll be sharing 2 layouts and 1 off the page project.

Capture the Moment Layout #1

The starting point for this layout was this beautiful picture of my 2 sons and I taken during our Riviera Maya vacation last summer. I wanted to extend on my layout the colors of my picture, so a blue background with a sandy beach.

I chose the beige background from In the Mood - Flirty paper. Once covered with Gesso, I layed my foundation of ink on the top half.

I wanted to have multi tones on my chipboard to give it more dimension. I opted to cover my clock and rectangle pieces in Ginger, Black & Gold and finally a touch of Oatmeal embossing powders.

The bottom of the layout, in order to create a beach feel effect I worked with cheese cloth and wool fibers that I glued with gel medium. Then I added touches of small stones and 4 colors of seedlings: Paprika, Twig, Gold Nugget & Glass.

Once my background was complete, I chose to build my layers. For my title, I chose to use 14 Karat embossing powder. I love the glitter it adds to the layout.

This last picture shows the beautiful Blue Fern flowers, more details on the embossed chipboard & seedlings. I also included Rose Gold glitter but it's impossible to capture the glitter on my picture.

Formidable layout # 2

Time for another magnificent picture of my gorgeous niece with her family. I just love the vibrancy of the red in the picture and chose to use that for my highlights.

Remnants Westfield is my chosen paper for this layout.

I had fun playing with different techniques on this layout. The first step was to emboss different sections with the Green Ivory Embossing Powder.  I used 2 stamps to emboss on my background paper: Weathered Doily & Honeycomb.

I chose to alter the circle chipboard with black gesso, and some waxes to give them an antique look & feel.

I love adding the small sentiments from the Remnants printed chipboard set.

Can you see the top of my tags? I like making my own tags, they make wonderful ornaments for my layering. Here is used leftovers of my Remnants collection.

I wanted to add some shine to my flowers, so I added touches of white & gold glitter

Off the page project: Vision Board 2018

Have you ever made a vision board? This year at work, I hosted a team event where we I invited our team members to create their combined work & personal vision board for 2018.

The goal of a vision board is that if you see you goals on a daily level... you set-up you mind to making them happen.

To set-up my board I used many elements from my Blue Fern collection.

The first step was making my chipboard world map. I wanted it to pop out so I chose Blue Sky embossing powder:

Second elements where to use my gorgeous Blue Fern stamp sets. I love the words Family and Hopes & Dreams. I found them perfect for the family section of my board.

To create sections, I chose to use the frames in the Homespun printed chipboard set:

Here we can see a printed frame and the word Journey, both from my stamp stash.

And lastly, more of the Homespun printed chipboard elements. They are just adorable.

Disclaimer: I did pull off the internet and Pinterest some quotes that I found to complete the vision board.

Blue Fern Studios product used on this layout:

Embossing Powder: Blue Sky

Stamps:
Hopes & Dreams
Distressed Titles
Floral Vignettes

Chipboard:

I hope you enjoyed my 3 projects for March and I wish you an amazing crafty month !
