Secret Book Box

Hi and welcome to the Blue Fern Studios blog.
In my previous blog post  I shared two cards made with the Remnants collection.
I love this collection so much that I made another project with them.
This time I made a secret book box.

I had never made a secret book box before so I watched a few tutorials and pictures
and made one myself  from white chipboard sheets.
The box measures about 4,7 x 6,2 x 1,5 inches (= 12 x 16 x 4 cm).

I colored the entire book box with grey ink.

Then I glued Remnants papers on the in- and outside of the box.

I decorated the box with chipboards. These are brown colored and I also added a touch of
copper wax to give them a nice shine.
Furthermore there are some flowers and Remnants chipboard shapes added.

On the inside I glued a free vintage family photo I found on internet.

This book with the secret compartment is a fun way to give a gift to someone or
to hide your own special bits and pieces in.

Here is a list of the products I used:

Patterned Paper:
Remnants collection

Chipboard:
Remnants printed Chipboard shapes
Deja vu border chippie
fancy fob watch

Flowers:

Thanks so much for visiting.
Hugs, Henriëtte.

"One of a Kind" layout by Marie-Josée

Hello all,

Today, I will show you a layout I created with Blue Fern Studios newest paper collection, Frolic.  It is a beautiful collection, and the paper is as thick as usual. I am sure you will fall in love with this wonderful collection! I used three different papers: Veranda, Secretary and Friendship!

On this layout, I used the One of a Kind chipboard as my title. Since it was a little bit to big to fot where I wanted to put it, I cut it. Here's what it looked like in one piece, before I cut it:

I altered it with white gesso. And here's what it looks like once cut in two:

Finally, I added the Déjà Vu Border Chippie, also altered with gesso:

Mixed media layouts by Zanka

Today I have two projects to show for you, created with BFS Ombre Dreams. This collection has a delicate mixed media feel and whether you just leave it there or add more -like I did here- to enhance this effect, I'm sure you will be delighted with the result!

'Everyday Moments'
The chipboards are primed with clear gesso and painted with different colours of paints. In the background I used the same primer, adding watercolours randomly and finishing it off with the stencil.
Chipboards used:Organic coins, Everyday Moments, Layering Stems
Stamps:Forever, Halftone

' A Beautiful Life'
In this layout I used the same techniques, but different colours. The focus point is enhanced with a layered composition of chipboards, which makes the photo really pop out.
Chipboards used: Spring Branch, Deja Vu border, Grid pieces.
Stamps: Vintage Edges

These are my last 2 layouts in July and for a while I will not be sharing new works here...I have to temporarily step down from my DT tasks due to personal reasons but I hope to see you again in a few months.
Lots of love!

Yuko's June projects.

Hello!Friends❤
There are  Blue Fern Studios  DT projects for June.

I made 3 works this month with DéjàVu line.

【LOVE】
<Paper>~Love story~ The Grand Ball Déjà Vu~Luminaries・Petites Cartes
<Chipboard> Ornate shelf・memory frame ・Chermed Page Dangles・Page Chains

It is former collection "love story" to have used as a mount,
but is just new discovery with " DéjàVu"collection!

I like combination of this purple x yellow.

A part in Chaemed and a part of a chain are a different chipboard.
It's connected and used.

This large chip board (Ornate shelf) was also easy to use surprising.
Although large chip board will get a little hesitant to buy
When it's used, there is an existence sense as expected, and it's nice!

【moment IN TIME】
<Paper>~Déjà Vu~  Atelier・Luminaries・Petites Cartes
<Chipboard>Jane's Screen Door・Rose Bouquet

I made use of a patterned paper  of very pretty pink  and made it with a pretty atmosphere.

This chipboard (rose bouquet) will be gorgeous and be the good accent.
After I didn't distinguish by using different colors small this time and applied the whole in white by JESSO.
White with lame was applied shimmerz and butter cream was given a ride at random.
It'll be the feeling that an expression may go out more than snow white.

 【sweet heart】
<Paper>~Déjà Vu~  Atelier・Luminaries・Petites Cartes・FriperiesTresors
<Chioboard>Iron Railing・Lovebirds set

This was made with a picture of the rose garden performed the other day.
Was really beautiful flowers is full !

A chipboard of this barrier (Iron Railing) was colored with shimmerz and liquid Pearl was put on a point.

The Déjà Vu line you do not get tired of some made even !
Really is a favorite! !
The purple that not only it is sweetbut also is slightly chic is good!

Thank you!

A couple of pages from Bente using Deja Vu and Montage collections.

Hi, today it's my turn again here on  the blog and I have made some pages to showcase some of the beautiful Blue Fern Studios chipboards and papers. They are such a treat to work with.

Here is my first page.

I decided on some pink and yellow tones mainly and painted my 'Floral Medley frame' using a pretty yellow tone that I picked up from the designs in the paper.
The papers are from the 'Montage ' collection.

I used some Blue Fern Studios stamps as well.
The hot-air balloon is part of the 'Journey' set and I even used some of te stamps from  'Halftone'.

Here are a few close ups as well:

I stamped the balloon once on a pink paper and once on a yellow one.

My second page for today :

Previously I have focused on the yellow and lilac tones in the 'Deja Vu' papers as these are really some of my fave colours, but as you see it's possible to pick a different colour scheme entirely :-)

I used the green sheet for the background adnd the wood patterned paper on top. As these are pretty neutral you can really pick almost any colour to add as accents and embellishments.

Here are a few close ups too:

I used the new 'Deja Vu border chippie' painted green as a base for my page.
I added a summery photo and picked pretty, illuminant yellow and red to go with it.
It's such a vibrant and energetic combination.

I included a chipboard from the 'Ironworks accents' as a base for a small embellishmentcluster.

This ornamental chipboard border that goes with the Deja Vu collection is one of my preferred pieces right now. I hope you enjoyed my pages today and you will be back soon again to see what my friends in the DT are up to!

Have a lovely day!

May Projects by Angelica Franssen

Hello friends! Today I'm here to share with you my May projects using the Deja Vu Collection.

My first project is a layout based on May's sketch. I lightly painted the La Plume paper with some watered down gesso. Then did some misting. I used the Friperies paper as the background photo mat.

For the title I used the word "Wonder" from the Delight Set. I also used the Deja Vu Collage Border. The three chipboard pieced I used were all treated the same. First I applied gesso and misted with three different color mists.

The bird cage is from the "Tweets" Collection.

I loved the colors in the Lustre paper. It's like a greenish gray, so I mixed in some purple. I also used the Atelier paper for some background layering.

The title "Discover" is from the  Journey, Discover, Explore Set. I misted it with a dark color so it can pop off the page.

When I was searching for a photo I found the young  woman at the door or window. I thought that the Sara's Screen Door chippy was a perfect match.
I used two of the four Small Symphony Corners to further frame my photo.

For my last project I made a canvas. I took a 10x8 and put three small 3x3 on top for dimension. I first treated the canvas with mist. Then did some masking with modeling paste. I used some scraps from the Un Voyage A Paris papers.
I used bits from the Quatrefoil Panel.

The butterflies are from the Magical Monarchs Set.

Thanks for taking a peek!
