October Inspirations by Catherine Giguère

Hello Blue Fern Studios Fans!
Here's my turn to share with you three new layouts. This month, I had so much fun with the gorgeous Homespun paper collection.

'Formidable'

For this layout, I used the Homespun 'Homegrown' paper as background. I put a coat of clear gesso on it and I added texture by applying modeling paste through a stencil. Then, I applied green and blue inks and I stamped many details with BFS stamps and brown ink.

I embossed my chipboards (except the title)  with BFS Imagine Ink embossing powder 'Antique Gold'.

I add many blue flowers on the left and the right of my picture.

I embossed my title 'Incroyable' with BFS Imagine Ink embossing powder 'In the Navy'.

Pretty as a Picture by Lisa Landry

Today I'm very happy and excited to show you the second layout I've created
as the Blue Fern Studios October Fan of the Month.

This is my beautiful Mom when she was just 18 years old in 1948.
I knew this lovely photo would be perfect for the breathtaking page named
Picturesque in the Blue Fern Studios Homespun collection!

My designs always coordinate around pretty paper, rather than covering it up.
That's exactly what I've done here.  Not only is the gorgeous paper a stand out,
but so are all of the embellishments!

Every one of my creations has special meaning for me in some way.  This one of course is my dear mother, but also I noticed that she's wearing a pearl necklace.  I rummaged through the costume/faux jewelry pieces of hers and found a pearl necklace.  Some snippets from it really add a little bit more of 'her' in this layout.

I was especially excited to see things about sewing in this gorgeous Homespun collection.
My mother could sew very well and often made dresses for me when I was a child.
She later made many of them for my daughter too.

I fussy cut & edge inked some ornate scissors from the Crafty page.
They fit nicely at the bottom of the 'frame'.

On the Calling Cards page were lots of choices too.  The 'Simple Sewing Cards' is adorable and a great corner fit.  Also, how perfect it is to use the word 'Homemade'.  Homespun Bloom really dressed up these cute cards!

The photo is placed on cardboard for added dimension & then framed by a pretty floral piece that is found on the backside of the Picturesque page.  The beautiful Blue Fern chipboard piece, Royal Border, is heat embossed in Rusty Rose.  The entire piece was then lightly brushed with matte gel and heavily coated with Ruby Slippers glitter. I let this dry and set, then brushed off excess areas with my fingertip and a dry paint brush.

Look how gorgeous it turned out.

I made two matching flower clusters for each side of the photo with the pretty Homespun Blooms.  Red Christmas berry picks were added to match the printed ones on the page.
Blue Fern's beautiful flesh toned Lace 3 was the perfect size.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  I'm anxious to get started on next Wednesday's layout and I hope you'll be back to see it.  Have a great week everyone!

October inspiration by Tartine Peluche

Hi everyone!
I'm back to the blog to share with you my october inspiration.
My first one is:

 100% Natural Moment

First, I arranged my two paper ( Chapters & Yesteryear) together to create perspective.
I cut the yellow roses from the paper Sunny Disposition and I placed this one under my first layer of paper. Under the top paper and a few other places I placed Lace 3.
As I used the chipboard Happy Moment in the background,
I cut out the words so as not to lose them.

Birds come from
Amber and Apricot Printed Chipboard.
Yellow butterfly come frome Garden Life Printed Chipboard.
Chipboard Moment have just a layer of white gesso, Rose Leaves was embossed with Avocado Embossing Powder and base of Happy Moment chipboard was embossed with Hot Cocoa embossing powder.

I choose to alter the yellow rose with copper ink in order to have a color a little more orange which better mixed with background paper.

I tried to give the colors to my chipboard Floral Spray, with seedlings... not exactly the result I had in mind but it's pretty I think ...

Christmas in October? Why not?
Here is my second layout with Vintage Christmas collection.
I'll be home for christmas

I started by working my background with blue ink and Lucky embossing powder. I used this last with scratched stamp. I used also serendipity and grungy grid stamps with brown ink,
Then I placed my chipboard panel ( Harlequin) that I embossed with Snow.

My chipboard Fern (imagined by Pascale B), was embossed in Lucky. I found that it also resembled branches of fir.
For this layout I used all my package of Chritsmas Blooms flowers.

My Snowflake Frame Square, embossed in whole with Fern and stamped in Lucky using Bourbon Street Stamp. Mixt of this two colors are so magical! And with piece of Lace 6 ... realy beautiful.

All my chipboard pieces received in part, a layer of false snow...

My lastest layout features the Attic Charm collection.
Sweet & Lucky

This page does't seem it, but it's rather simple to make it,
I start with my Garden Frolic stamp, then I put a bit of texture paste
and I finish with my inks.

After embossing my chipboard Treasured Floral Frame with Oatmeal embossing powder, I can start decorating my main element of the page, my photo,
with Attic Charm Daisy, Dark Tropic Lilies ( light pink) and Garden Blooms flowers. I added some cut pieces of Lace 4 and I cut in the paper Attic Key the flowers and I placed under the photo.
I used the embossing powder Baby Pink for my title Sweet this color is very pretty, light soft and bright, almost white.

I altered my chipboard
Quatrefoil Panel only with colored wax, rose gold.
On my flowers and has some place on my page I also added Pink Diamond glitters.

Our October Fan of the Month

October is here, and so is our new Blue Fern Fan of the Month, the wonderful Lisa Landry.  Her elegant style is perfect paired with Blue Fern products, which explains why she is such a fan.  So, let's get to know Lisa, and take a look at her first layout for us this month (and get to know one of her beautiful cats, too).

Hi!  My name is Lisa Landry (a.k.a. iluvcats261).  >^..^<
My husband and I live in Lake Charles, Louisiana where we were both born and raised. I have a wonderful daughter, an awesome son-in-law, and two sweet Grand Kitties that live not too far away in Houston, Texas.  Besides my husband an daughter, the loves of my life are my two magnificent Birman cats, Miss Gali and Lucy (mother and daughter), who have become popular in the scrapping community because they are my biggest inspirations.
My daughter introduced me to scrapbooking in 2010 and it’s the first craft I’ve ever been interested in.  Scrapping brings me peace, happiness, enjoyment and relaxation.  My creations are mostly romantic style with an added touch of shabby chic on occasion.  I especially love creating flower clusters, stenciling a pretty design and heat embossing chipboard!  The paper design and the photo I choose guide me through the creation process.
When I discovered Blue Fern Studios I fell in love with their high-quality products and have been one of their biggest fans for a very long time!   I’m extremely honored to be Blue Fern’s October Fan of the Month!  I hope that you enjoy my creations…..and as always, have a wonderful day!  Lisa : )
******************************
For this layout, I used Blue Fern Studios Happy Accident paper collection that has
light blue tones (because of Lucy's eyes) and beige and white (for Lucy's colors).
The photo is adhered to cardboard for a little raised dimension.

BFS Doodle Corners chipboard reminds me of string!
I used them to frame Lucy's adorable photo.
They are heat embossed in BFS Imagine Ink color Starry Night.  WOWOWOW!
What a perfect match to Lucy's eye color!!

Cute black & white Baker's Twine was perfect to zig-zag around the layout edge
since the layout is all about Lucy's beloved string.
To the upper right of the photo, I heat embossed Blue Fern Studios brick stamp
in the Essential Textures set with their Imagine Ink color Oatmeal.

Blue Fern Studios Products used:
Happy Accident paper "Blessing" backside
Essential Textures Clear Stamp Set - bricks
Imagine Ink embossing powders - Oatmeal & Starry Night
Chipboard - Doodle Corners

I hope you enjoyed my first post!
I look forward to creating some new layouts with Blue Fern's gorgeous products!
See you the next few Wednesdays.  Have a great day, Lisa : )
