August inspiration by Karolina

Hello everyone! Karolina here.
Today I'm so glad to be sharing with you two creations - a layout using the fabulous new collection Seaside Cottages mixed with another collections and a canvas in a very sweet style using Attic Charm collection. My projects are always very reach and I'm using so many embellishments, layers, flowers, textures and color touches I really like this effect, because then you can read projects using your hands. If you know what I mean Hope you like it!

Fascination

Firstly my layout. I have used one of my favourite combination of colors - turquoise, blue, yellow and brown. It looks amazing, isn't it? On a base paper I chose a beautiful paper from Seaside Cottage collection and then I have built a composition with using differents turquoise-blue shades papers from few collections of Blue Fern Studios. I added also black accents to make my project more contrasty. Then I added some embellishments and flowers of course (a turquoise flower is my handmade flower! I'm proud of myself :D)

Papers: Seaside Cottage - Voyage, Regalia; Sanstuary - Bidsong melody; Serendipity - Calling Cards; Love story - Concerto; Paisley&Vine - Bohemian, Nature; Attic Charm - Curio, Sping Posy
Chipboards: Serendipity words 2, Quilted Page Panel
Glitter: Caribbean, Peacock, Burnt Cooper
Sweet

My second projects is a canvas with my sweet goddaughter Sophie. She is soo cute! But I have to admit that she is very naughty girl ;)
Now Sophie is 2 years old, but I really like this photo. I prepared very reach and high composition using papers from Attic Charm collection. There you can find so many pink and another soft colors papers. I added so many flowers, some embellishents and chipboards of course! To color my title and background chipboard pieces I have used embossing powders - fuhsia and petal and some pieces I left in natural color of chipboard.

Papers:  Attic Charm - Mercantile, Foyer, Calling Cards
Chipboards: Arrow words, Directions, Quatrefoil Panel, Leafy Page accents
Embossing powders: Fuhsia, Petal

Three Beach themed Layouts with the Seaside Cottage Collection by Keren Tamir

Hi Everyone!!
I was thrilled to receive the new Seaside Cottage collection.
I love the beach and being near the ocean. It's my ideal vacation and I go there any chance I get.
I don't live near the ocean, but whenever I go, I love taking photos on the beach and near the water.
I also love collecting shells and then using them on my projects.
I've created three beach themed layouts below.

Here is the first one:

"Calm"

I used the Embark paper  from the Seaside Cottage collection for the background. I stencilled it with a fish scale looking pattern and sprayed it with blue ink.

The Seaside Frame and Flourish were embossed with Blue Fern Studios Oatmeal embossing powder. Then I gave it some blue touch-ups. The calm title was painted in blue and then covered in clear glittery stickles.

Finally, I added Blue Fern Studios flowers and some seashells I collected during one of my trips.

"By The Sea"

Here is my second layout for this month using the Voyage paper from the Seaside Cottage collection.

I actually cut the background paper in half and  connected the two edges in the middle so the sail boat would be in the center. Then I used some paste and stencils to create some wave like pattern to cover the seam.

I used the large Blue Fern Flourish chipboard to give the photo some wave-like movement. I embossed the flourish with Sea Mist embossing powder.
As a title I used part of the calling cards paper and then added some Seaside Lilies, roses and other Blue Fern Studios blooms. I also added shells of course.

"The end of a perfect day"

This is my third layout this month using the Regalia paper from the Seaside Cottage Collection.

I loved creating texture behind my photo by using cheese cloth  like the second layout above. I also used Blue Fern Studios blooms and shells like in my other layouts

To mat the photo I used a couple of pieces from the calling cards paper. I also used the "Seaside Charms" and "The end of a perfect day" title to embellish the layout. I embossed them with the Sea Mist embossing powder.

Thank you so much for visiting the Blue Fern Studios blog!!

Have a wonderful day!!

August Social Media Update and YOU!

Hello, hello!

Sandi here with you today sharing some Blue Fern Studios awesomeness that we found on Instagram.

This month I've taken some screen shots directly from Instagram. We are trying to really drive home the need to be there! It's a quick, easy and fun way to see some gorgeous creations. And to basically create your own gallery there. You can also upload to Facebook and a Twitter from there, as well as pin your projects to Pinterest!

Please tag us there so that we can find you! Also, do the same when visiting Pinterest. Did you know that we have a full Pinterest board that features YOUR creations? We sure do!

First up, we're sharing this gorgeous layout by Emi Nakagawa using the Serendipity paper collection. She's added some simple elements and kept the project light and airy. You can  visit her blog at http://ameblo.jp/nikopiyo/ and obviously her Instagram at @sb.and.r.emi.

We love this creation by Rika Hayama! What an unique way to use the Gazebo image from Autumn Anthology! It looks gorgeous against the woodgrain and with the mix of color and black and white photos. Rika blogs HERE

Because we have been focusing on Seaside Cottage over the past few weeks, I wanted to include this fussy cut layout from Mikamika of Japan. Her floral cluster, and fussy cutting create such a beautiful scene alongside her photos. Her Instagram is @blanche0101.

Look at this adorable little mailbox creation from Naomi Chang using our older Love Story collection. I almost held this over until next month but it is so unique, I was anxious to share. Naomi blogs HERE
Off the Page creations using Blue Fern Studios are always eye-catching!

We have another new feature this month by Shinko who blogs at shinkoblog.blogspot.com. Her paper folding and great design create a truly gorgeous piece using our Attic Charm collection and chipboard.

I'm sneaking in one last creation by Canadian Laura Gilhuly using our chipboard and the awesome new Seaside Cottage collection. She has lots of great photos of her boys at the beach and does a beautiful job of using flowers on her masculine pages! Great work, Laura!

That's it for today!
I hope you've found something to inspire you!
Also, fingers crossed that all photo credits are correct.
Please let us know if they are not.

See you next month!

August Projects by Maja

Hello everyone, welcome to the Blue Fern Studios blog :-)

I have some projects for you today. All are based on the Attic Charm collection, filled with pastel colours and delicate designs, perfect for many kinds of projects! But they are not limited to sweet romantic or girly pages! I have made two boy layouts using this collection ;-)
Let's begin with a soft teal and gold page:

The title of the layout is the large Remember Moments piece that I embossed with Oatmeal and Sea Mist embossing powders:

I stamped some Journey stamps in the background, and then put my photos in Clip Frames. I used three embossing powders to add colours to the pieces: words with Ebony, clips with Mushroom and frames with Ginger:

I used one of the quotation tags from the Calling Cards sheet and added some flowers to match the colour palette:

We Do Not Remember Days:
Papers: Attic Charm: Spring Posy, Generation, Calling Cards
Chipboard: Remember Moments, Clip Frames, Directions
Flowers: Attic Charm Glitter Roses, Tranquil Roses and Lilies, Tranquil Blooms
Stamps: Journey
EP: Ginger, Oatmeal, Mushroom, Ebony, Sea Mist

And here's the other boy page, this time focusing on green shades of the papers from the collection, and many varietes of green embossing powders. They were a perfect choice for my green-eyed nephew's photo :-)

I used the Attic Key paper for the background, added some texture with a stencil and some stamping:

For the title I used the Dare to Dream piece that I embossed with Verdant and Lucky powders:

To decorate the page further I used the Lucky piece of the Charmed Page Dangles and added some colour to it with Copper, Lucky and Grassy Knoll embossing powders...

...and selected flowers from the Coursthip Blooms and Glitter Roses sets:

Lucky:
Papers: Attic Charm: Attic Key, Generation
Chipboard: Dare to Dream, Charmed Page Dangles, Postage Frames
Flowers: Attic Charm Glitter Roses, Courtship Blooms
EP: Grassy Knoll, Clover, Lucky, Verdant, Copper

The Attic Charm collection is perfect for many kinds of projects, not only layouts. Here are two cards I made using these beautiful papers. Here's a baptism card featuring the filigree Ornate Cross piece:

I added some machine sewing and delicate white and pink flowers:

The soft pastel colours of papers from the Attic Charm collection are ideal for wedding projects too:

I placed a stamped sentiment in the smallest of the Psotage Frames piece and added two Mini Flourishes. All pieces are embossed with Oatmeal:

I finished off my design by adding some Tranquil Roses and Blooms, vintage ribbon and waxed string bows:

Baptism Card:
Papers: Attic Charm: Foyer, Mercantile
Chipboard: Ornate Crosses, Mini Flurishes, Postage Frames
Flowers: Courtship Roses, Tranquil Roses and Lilies
EP: 14 Karat

Wedding Card:
Papers: Attic Charm: Attic Key, Calling Cards
Chipboard: Postage Frames, Mini Flourishes
Flowers: Courtship Blooms, Tranquil Blooms, Tranquil Roses and Lilies
EP: Oatmeal

That is all for today, thank you very much for visiting the blog!

Seaside Cottage and Tranquility inspiration layouts by Wilma

Two for the boys.

Our August challenge is a nice one.

And a easy one.
Just use one of three collection.
Seaside Cottage, tranquility or Attic Charm.
My plan was to add three layouts , one for each of these colections.
But because beautiful Switzerland is overcrowded with tourist this saison....
I just coudnt get time enough to do anything creative.
So there was no time for the Attic Charm inspiration layout.
But when you look at the blog,
there has been lots of inspiration already with the Attic Charm collection

For my first layout I used the beautiful Seaside Cottage collection.
Perfect papers to scrap your beach pictures.
For a beachy and masculine feeling I used textured modeling paste,
in my background and on my chipboard.

First I colored the title with distress ink.
Than I added the texture paste with a pallette knife.

The seaside Flourish chipboard piece was first stippled with the paste.
Than I added different colors of embossing powder in the still wet paste.
I heated up just a few parts of the powder.
After it dryed here and there a little raw paste to give that beach feeling.

*******

My second layout has more of a tender feeling.
I wanted a soft natural look.
In the background stamping with a blue color ink that matched perfect with the blue from the paper.
Softened up with white ink.

I love the Wild Field chipboard and I think it matched perfect with the stamped background.
I left it natural and just brushed on a little white ink to set some highlights.
The chipboard is totally flat on the paper, but because of the highlights it becomes depth.
The roses were left in their natural color, just got some white ink here and there.
To keep the page in that soft natural color I left the title just plain .

I hope you will find time to play along with our challenge, there are two more weeks left to join in.

Thank you for visiting the blog.
I hope you liked my post.
