Are You Thinking Ahead to Christmas?

We are, at Blue Fern Studios!  And we have the perfect collection to get you ready to start tackling those holiday projects.   If you plan to make cards, tags, or gifts for your family and friends, we have a beautiful collection to get you started.  And don't forget those projects for your home, or how about displaying a few layouts with photos of Christmas past?  The Blue Fern Vintage Christmas collection is just what you need.  Here's a close-up look at this elegant paper collection featuring shades of blue, green, red, pink, and neutral tones, all with a true vintage look.

We are also excited to introduce a brand new line of products called Imagine Ink.  These products were created to coordinate with our Vintage Christmas line.  No more searching for just the right color of mist, embossing powder, or glitter.  We have done all the work for you!

Our three new mists are Cotton Candy, Jingle Bells, and Winter Mint and they are sure to add just the right amount of luster and interest to your projects.

We have also added glitter!  These three colors, Phoenix, Caribbean, and Pyrite will bring just the right amount of sparkle!

And wouldn't it be wonderful to have some coordinating Embossing Powder?  We have taken care of that, too.  What an awesome way to enhance our chipboard designs!  Once again, we have taken the guess-work out of it by selecting four colors that will coordinate with the Vintage Christmas collection - Lucky, Poinsettia, Petal, and Fern.

We sure hope this has put you in the mood for Christmas.  We will be showing you projects from our Creative Team later this month.  Wait until you see how they are using these products!

And of course, we have designed some beautiful chipboard pieces, just in time for your holiday and winter creating.   Be sure to check back next week when we reveal the new designs.

'Memories' by Marta Lapkowska

Hi everyone,

It's Marta Lapkowska here! Are you rady for some inspirations ?
I have made two layouts for today's post. Two different styles but two equally interesting projects.

First page is totally mixed media based layout.

I used brand new paper collection 'Autumn Anthology'. For some interest I added some white string across the page.

I have added some modelling paste through the stencil. Everythig was coloured with sprays.

As my final touch I added chipborad 'Clip Frames'.
You can follow the whole creative process on the video tutorial.
I hope you will enjoy it:

My second make is plain and clean.
As you can see this layout is flat and easy to store. Even tho I am a mixed media girl I like to make sometimes easy pages which could be challening for me. No art mediums ? Oh yes, just stunning papers and few wonderful chipboards!

I must say I love the papers from 'Frolic' collection. Bright, very colourful and beautiful!

I embossed all the chipboards with yellow embossing powder.

I love fussy-cutting :)

I wish you a very creative day !
Love, Marta xx

Mixed media and some chipboard doodling.

Hi, Wilma here today with three layouts...I hope you enjoy my post.

Today I used three pictures I really wanted to use.
A lot of people think they have to bring the picture perfect photos on their layouts.

But should we do that all the time?
For me it is not that important, the picture just has to give me that special feeling

On this first layout my son and his girlfriend made a photoshoot in one of those ready to go boxes.
And I love this photo. It is real , fun, crazy and full of life.
                                                                 And so are they....
I started with a background paper from the Autumn Anthology collection: cottage
As I love the vintage written print to show through my mediums.
I leave some parts to show through as if they were stamped.

Behind my pictures I used the balcony paper, I love those month prints in vintage style!

For my chipboard I used the rockwall bits ( I had some leftovers from it) and the techno scape.

Both dabbed with Lumiere metallic paints and Viva gold rub.
The background color is done by mixing two of the new mist colors form Blue Fern Studios.
They gave me that beautiful turqoise green.

My second layout, all Autumn Anthology collection :

I would like to show you two versions , I could not really decide which one I like more.
First my layout looked clean without a lot of medium.

On the background I stenciled some roses ,
and after drying I painted them with two of the new colors mist : Persimonn and leaf
After it was dry I touched it with the glitterpen.

I liked the page, but it was not me somehow :) .
And after some mixed media fun it came out like this , for me it worked better :)

As my background paper I used the Balcony paper from the collection.
My chipboard piece is also a new release from Autumn Anthology:

As you see I cut it in three pieces to spread around my layout..
The little birdy on the photo was cut of the papername strip.
***

My third layout is in a style I use most when I do scrapbookpages for myself.
Nothing overdone a little from this and a little from that.
And always there is chipboard involved in some way.

I had this picture for some time in mind to do a artjournalpage.
But when I had the Circruitry chipboard on hand ,
I wanted to use it with this photo on a layout.
Just for fun.

First I sprayed my chipboard with gesso, the quickest way , fast drying time.

Than some doodling, very random.

I was going for a tight look, so I used spraypaint on my chipboard titel .

Thank you for watching my post, have a great weekend!

Summer snapshots

Hello BFS fans!
I hope you've all been great! I'm happy to be back and share with you some of the colorful snapshots from my summer.

'Bloom and grow'
It's all about the soft, white washed colors, with just a hint of teal and pink. The chipboards treatment is simple - I'm using either plain or just covered with a layer of gesso.
Chipboards: Deja vu border, Blue Fern frame (piece), Layering stems

'Totally love you'
This is one of my favorite BFS papers and I've been saving it for long! It's so decorative that it needs just a small amount of embellishments. I used piecec of old lace and chipboards to frame my story.
Some messy stamping is just added to get more contrast in the pastel backgrund.
Chipboards:Radiant suns, Blue Fern frame, Dot grid panel, Quaterfoil panel

'Remember (Krakow marketsquare)'
A selfie with my daughter while visiting Krakow marketsquare! A quick vacation layout, if you don't count the time for fussy cutting the roses ;)
Chipboards: Mixed chains, Grunge frames, Memory frames, Blue Fern frame (yes! again - this giant piece lasts forever)

I have about 1000 photos from this summer, so I might be sharing some more next time :)
Have a great day everybody!

Sandi's September Creations

Hello, Blue Fern fans!
Sandi here with you today sharing my September projects.

My most recent Design Team package contained the new Autumn Anthology collection, papers, chipboard, stamps and oh, yes, the new Imagine mists! Two of my September projects were already done but I managed to get one Autumn Anthology project done for this time around. More coming next month as I adore these papers and matching chipboard, mists and stamps!

"Lucy @ 33"

I haven't done a "Lucy" layout in a few months, so I was definitely feeling the urge to scrap a photo of her. I chose the Penmanship paper and some matching Calling Card notes for a photo mat and title.  I prepared my background with gesso, stenciling and the new Essential Texture stamp along with a hint of the Leaf mist applied with a sponge.

The Shrine Frame was gessoed, spritzed with a gold mist and then embellished with some random dark gold embossing powder as well as some clear embossing powder.  I didn't allow the gold embossing powder to completely melt. I left it with some grainy texture. Love the result! The Ginger's Poppies are one of my favorite BFS pieces! They are so intricate and unique. Here I have gessoed them and added touched of distress ink for color. I also colorized the leaf portion with the new Imagine Leaf spray mist.

Just another close-up of Ginger's Poppies.

My Garden Lattice Bits on the right were perfect for adding a little something along the edges of my layout. Here they were primed and spritzed with more of the dark gold, tea-stained mist.  This is also a great close-up of the Essential Textures stamp and the new Leaf mist. A few flowers, pearls and it was done. So fun!

"The Best Day Ever"

Next, I used more of the Frolic collection to create a wedding layout. I've scrapped this photo before but gave it away, so maybe this one will be mine. I tore a few sheets of the Frolic paper to add layers and change up the look of the Frolic Allegro paper. Then I applied my mixed media, including the new Imagine Mist in Persimmon along with a gold from my stash. There will be new mist colors coming out with each new paper collection from what I understand.

The Butterfly Damask chippy was cut in half and used a layer beneath my photo. I've primed, inked and randomly embossed it. The Arrow Word set provided my little subtitle "Love This" which was primed and spritzed. Lots of paper layers beneath the photo just because I love layers.

Of course, my title was the fabulous Best Day Ever chipboard title. This time I painted it and then sponged it with white paint to shabby it up. The Frolic Dans le Jardin paper provides lots of great butterflies to fussy cut and add as embellishments! Get an extra of that one!

"Adorable"

Last is the layout I created for our September Sketch challenge. And yes, that is myself when I was about 2 years old. I've used the Frolic Mercantile paper as my base and kept the mixed media pretty simple on this one .. just heavy gesso and stenciling.

I've treated all four pieces of chipboard the same for this project. The Destiny collage, Celebration Hearts, Princess Window, and the Adorable title from the Good vibes word set were all primed, misted and treated with distress ink to finish them. I wanted a very monochromatic feel to the chippys so that they almost blended with the paper.

Loving the Celebration chippy on it's own in the upper right corner .. so sweet for a "toddler baby" page.
